3:00 PM - 4:30 PM
Ballroom 1&2

Speaker

Dr Nasser Madani
Assistant Professor
Nazarbayev University

3D estimation of variables with complexity in cross-correlation structures

3:00 PM - 3:15 PM

Abstract

Biography

Dr Madani received a PhD in Mining Engineering from University of Chile, Santiago, Chile. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor at Nazarbayev University, where he teaches and conducts research on Geostatistics (linear, nonlinear, and multivariate). Prior to this position, Dr Madani was an Assistant Researcher at the Advanced Mining Technology Centre (AMTC), University of Chile, from 2013 to 2016, involved in modelling and evaluation of orebodies. He has consulted to the mining/petroleum companies and conducted research projects in geostatistical modelling, together with providing a practical knowledge for interpreting data from sampling, experiments, and industrial tests.

Sensitive dependence on initial conditions in resource estimation

3:15 PM - 3:30 PM

Abstract

Biography

Danny was originally an open cut mine surveyor in Australia and West Africa. He soon got bored with that and completed a Masters in Geostatistics at Edith Cowan University in Perth. Following that he joined SRK in Perth in 1997. Much of the next five years was spent doing open cut and underground design, scheduling and mine planning before pushing deeper into 3D geological modelling and Resource estimation. In 20 years of consulting with SRK Danny has been based in Perth, Johannesburg, Brisbane and finally Melbourne and has been involved with over 200 different deposits.
