Speaker
Mr. Yerniyaz Abildin
MSc Student
Nazarbayev University
Forecast the mineral processing destinations based on spatial interpolation of geometallurgical variables
10:40 AM - 10:55 AMBiography
Abildin Erniyaz was born in Karaganda, Kazakhstan and graduated from the specialised school for gifted children "Daryn" in 2012. In 2017 he received bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Nazarbayev University, Astana, Kazakhstan. After graduating from the university, he enrolled in a master's program in the Mining Engineering program at Nazarbayev University. In addition, Mr. Abildin took part in World Mining Congress 2018 and presented topic 'Geostatistical modeling of Geometallurgical variables through Turning bands approach'.
Mr Warren Potma
Principal Geologist
CSA Global Pty Ltd
Putting the 'GEO' back in front of GEOmetallurgy: importance of early implementation of quantitative mineral system characterisation, classification and modelling
10:55 AM - 11:10 AMBiography
Warren is a principal geologist with CSA Global Mining Industry Consultants, with over 20 years experience across exploration and mining geology and R&D. He is a structural geologist with a passion for integrated mineral system analysis and geometallurgy of magmatic-hydrothermal mineral systems, who's background includes work with CSIRO and the pmdCRC, AngloGold, and stints as exploration manager for Hot Chili, Silver Swan Group and Caravel Minerals.
Ms Pia Lois
PhD Research Scholar
SMI-JKMRC, The University of Queensland
Multisource rock characterisation at microscale for a better understanding of processing characteristics
11:10 AM - 11:25 AMBiography
Geologist, PhD student from SMI-JKMRC. Originally from Chile, She did a master by research in Chile, studying floatation behaviour of different sulphides. She also worked for 2 years as a Geomet consulting in Chile before she migrated to Australia for her PhD in the same area.
Dr Andrew Hellicar
Senior Research Engineer
CSIRO
Heterogeneity assessment for grade engineering in complex ore bodies
11:25 AM - 11:40 AMBiography
Andrew D. Hellicar received his bachelor’s (Hons.) degree in engineering from the University of Tasmania, in 1997, and a Ph.D. from Monash University, in 2007. In 2012, he returned to Tasmania, where he conducts research on machine learning techniques applied to mining with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research
Organisation (CSIRO). Since 2002, he was with the CSIRO Radio Physics Laboratory in Computational Electromagnetics and Distributed Computing, CSIRO, before leading projects in terahertz imaging and terrestrial communication systems and undertaking research on antennas for radio astronomy and satellite communication.
Mr Robert Morrison
Consultant
CRC ORE
Applying enhanced grade engineering to complex ore bodies
11:40 AM - 11:55 AMBiography
Dr Rob Morrison's research focusses on achieving a better understanding of mineral processing and ways to use the insights gained to identify potential possibilities for improvement, new flow sheets and equipment.
Rob is currently Chief Technologist at the JKMRC with responsibility for technical oversight of the research activities of the centre and for promoting the transfer of technology from research to the commercial realm. His technical interests include energy efficient mineral processing, advanced sorting techniques, characterisation of liberation and breakage, simulation and measurement techniques.Rob has published more than 200 technical papers, contributed to several text books and holds several patents.
