Biography

Dr Ilic is a fellow, chartered engineer and senior researcher at the University of Newcastle, located at the Newcastle Institute for Energy and Resources, with almost 20 years’ experience of consultancy and applied research. Using a foundation of bulk solids handling and particle science, over the last 5 years, Dr Ilic has established and grown multi-disciplinary research programmes that include engineering design, modelling and simulation, technology development and application in handling and minerals processing.

Alexandra is currently studying a dual degree in Chemical/Metallurgical Engineering (Honours) and Business Management (Innovation) at the University of Queensland. She has a demonstrated interest in the intersection of biometallurgy and tailings remediation, alongside the development and validation of other novel bacterial applications.

Fundamental Sintering Characteristics of Fine-Grained Hematite Precipitate in A Simulated Sinter Blend

Biography

Natalie Ware is a senior experimental scientist with CSIRO Mineral Resources working mainly on iron ore sintering at a laboratory scale. Natalie graduated with a B Sc (Chemistry) from the University of Newcastle before joining CSIRO to work in coal processing and then moving into the iron ore processing group. Her current focus is researching the melting behaviour of ore types, its effect on the physical strength of sinter matrix and assimilation behaviour. This research was designed to be complementary to CSIRO’s pilot scalepot grate sintering.
