Speaker
Mr Bradley Owen
Mechanical Engineer
Kinder Australia Pty Ltd
Analysing Impact Forces & Overcoming Speed, Heat and Pressure Issues in High Capacity Belt Support Applications
3:45 PM - 4:00 PMBiography
Bradley Owen is a Mechanical Engineer with over 5 years’ experience in the Bulk Material Handling. He specialises in design of belt conveyor components including transfer point and skirting systems. Developing innovative solutions that benefit the Iron Ore and Bulk Material Handling industries is Bradley’s main objective. Engaging in research that further the understanding of the key issues to drive design decisions is of particular interest to him.
Dr Niloofar Karimian
Postdoctoral Research Fellow
CSIRO
Phosphorus association with goethite: Effects of Fe(II)-catalysed recrystallisation
4:00 PM - 4:15 PMBiography
Dr Niloofar Karimian is Post-doctoral Research Fellow at CSIRO (mineral resources) and Monash university in Melbourne. She is an environmental geochemist, interested in applied and fundamental aspects of environmental geochemistry and mineralogy. Her research explores the multi-disciplinary links between mineralogy, geochemistry, and microbiology in controlling environmental mobility and speciation of a wide range of toxic metalloids, such as antimony, arsenic, and chromium, in soil-water systems. She is interested to explore how mineral formation and evolution over time affect the environmental behavior association and bioaccessibility of impurities and contaminants in the geo-environment using a wide range of advanced analytical techniques including state of art spectroscopy techniques such as synchrotron-based X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy (XAS). In her current role at CSIRO, she is carrying out innovative research to resolve the invisible phosphorus puzzle in iron ore which is a critical step in unlocking the economic potential and reducing the carbon intensity of iron ore processing.
Mrs Ashma Singh
Senior Technical Specialist- Physical Beneficiation
Mintek
Coarse Processing of South African Banded Iron Formation (BIF)
4:15 PM - 4:30 PMBiography
Ashma Singh is a Senior Technical Specialist: Physical Separation at Mintek. She holds a MSc (Chem Eng) degree from the University of KwaZulu Natal (UKZN) and is currently pursuing her PhD (Chem Eng) through UKZN in South Africa and co-supervised through the Florida Institute of Phosphate Research (FIPR). She is a registered professional engineer at the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA). Furthermore, she is a fellow of the South African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (SAIMM) and member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM). She has 20 years of experience within Mintek’s Minerals Processing Division in the beneficiation of a plethora of mineral resources including and not limited to Ferrous Minerals, Industrial Minerals and Base Metals.
Mr Leonardo Vimercati
Process Engineer
DiefenbachSrl
Filtered tailings – An iron ore experience
4:30 PM - 4:45 PMBiography
Leonardo Vimercati is a Chemical Engineer graduated at Politecnico di Milano. He is Diefenbach’s Process Engineer since 2017 and the laboratory manager since 2015, roles that allowed and still allow him to mix both theoretical and practical aspects concerning filter presses and their various applications. In 2022 he increased his experience in tailings application with two filter presses startups in South America and the Caribbean.
