Reducing waste in the iron ore industry by beneficiating slimes using new flotation regime and two stage processing route
1:30 PM - 1:45 PMBiography
Lev Filippov is Full Professor at the National Engineering School of Geology and Head of the “Minerals engineering“ team of the GeoRessources Laboratory of the University of Lorraine (Nancy, France). With over 35 years of research experience in mineral processing he authored more than 250 peers reviewed and conference papers and 25 patent applications. The main research areas cover the fundamental and applied researches on recovery of the strategic metals from primary and secondary resources. The significant contributions were achieved in the surface chemistry and modelling of the synergistic effects in mixed collector systems, especially with non-ionic reagents and in the development of reverse cationic flotation of iron and phosphate ores with complex gangues mineralogy.
Ms Natalie Ware
Senior Experimental Scientist
CSIRO
New Insights into the Relationships Between Sinter Mineralogy and Physical Strength using QXRD and Optical Image Analysis
1:45 PM - 2:00 PMBiography
Natalie Ware is a senior experimental scientist with CSIRO Mineral Resources working mainly on iron ore sintering at a laboratory scale.
Natalie graduated with a B Sc (Chemistry) from the University of Newcastle before joining CSIRO to work in coal processing and then moving into the iron ore processing group. Her current focus is researching the melting behaviour of ore types, its effect on the physical strength of sinter matrix and assimilation behaviour. This research was designed to be complementary to CSIRO’s pilot scale pot grate sintering.
Dr Richard Elliott
Principal Mechanical Engineer
Sedgman Onyx
An Approach to the Calibration and Validation of Transfer Chute DEM Simulations Handling Cohesive Iron Ore Fines
2:00 PM - 2:15 PMBiography
Richard has worked in materials handling for the mining industry for 15 years, specialising in the design and analysis of conveyor transfer chutes and bulk material handling equipment. Richard is the Principal Mechanical Engineer at Sedgman Onyx and leads the companies DEM team. The primary focus of his work in recent years has been developing advanced techniques for the calibration and validation of DEM simulations and providing assistance to major mining clients in the development of industry specifications for DEM analysis.
Mr Graham Reynolds
Operations Manager
Queensland Pacific Metals
QPM Hematite Precipitate as an Ironmaking Feed Material
2:15 PM - 2:30 PMBiography
Mr. Reynolds has over 30 years of experience in mining and mineral processing.
Graham began his career with BHP and is a Chartered Professional of the Australian Institute of Mining & Metallurgy with postgraduate qualifications in extractive metallurgy and environmental chemistry. Graham has worked in Australia and overseas in a variety of commodities in operational and development roles including Operations Manager, Technical Manager, Business Improvement Manager and Capital Manager.
