Biography

Edis Nunes, global technical sales manager at Metso Outotec, graduated in mining engineering and obtained his master's degree at the University of São Paulo. Having almost 15 years of experience in mineral processing Edis is an expert in process optimization, comminution, risk analysis and project management. He has also previously occupied various positions in technology and process innovation, application and sales. Additionally, Edis has several national (Brazil) and international papers published at conferences related to the field. Published in Iron Ore Conference 2019 and 2021 (The influence of moisture in the vibrating screen sizing and selection processes, 2019 / Development of a Remotely Operated Robotic Mechanism for Accessing and Removal of Metal Tramp from Primary Gyratory Crushers, 2021)

Biography

I hold a M.Eng in chemical engineering and I`m currently the process manager at Gravitas Minerals where I continue to live out my passion for minerals processing, R&D and people. I love to look at minerals differently. Seeing the potential in fine and ultra fine minerals such as coal, chrome, iron ore, manganese and ferrous metals. I enjoy seeing the "impossible" coming to life and making an impact in the fines minerals beneficiation space.

Closure practitioner, environmental manager, exploration geologist and promoter of things that are responsible, fair and equitable. I have worked in the mining industry since 2008 and combine my love of people, the environment and sustainable development at work and at play. Work experience includes closure planning, due diligence, cost estimation, assurance matters and advisory, environmental management and technical reporting to international standards, in Australia, Chile, Canada, Africa, Indonesia, US…... If not at work, at some point in the day you can find me running on the trails.
