Biography

Tim has more than 23 years of experience in the mining industry in a variety of technical and senior management roles across 5 continents and various commodities. Tim has a comprehensive skill set, encompassing project development and commissioning, operations, technical services management, strategic planning, and studies. Tim has led sustainability and mine closure planning initiatives within numerous corporate organizations, identifying and realising substantial value and driving effective outcomes. Tim’s experience and knowledge in the mining, closure planning and execution fields have been awarded with the appointment by the Minister for Lands, Planning and Environment of the Northern Territory to be part of the independent panel of experts for the planning of Closure at the McArthur River Mine. Tim will also facilitate the Closure Execution module of the AusIMM Professional Certificate in Integrated Mine Closure in 2026.

Biography

Remke van Dam has 25 years' experience in academia and industry. He holds a PhD from the Free University (VU) in Amsterdam and specialises in near-surface geophysics for environmental, geotechnical, and hydrological applications. His experience includes contaminated site assessments and AMD, groundwater exploration, non-destructive testing and engineering geophysics, monitoring of subsurface processes, infrastructure surveys, and other applications. Besides Australia, Remke has worked in Brazil, Laos, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Oman, Panama, Sudan, Svalbard, UAE, and USA.

Biography

James is a Mining Engineer with nearly 40 years’ experience, the last 25 with AMC Consultants. This has allowed him to visit nearly 100 mines and contribute to projects covering almost 200 operations globally. He has worked on and managed scoping, prefeasibility, feasibility and review projects throughout Australia, Africa, Asia and the Americas covering gold, base metals and iron ore.

Biography

Darren’s WHSE experience spans >30 years across a wide section of industries including Mining, Manufacturing and Retail. He has an Honors degree in Geology from La Trobe University, a Graduate Diploma in Occupational Hazard Management from Federation University and has worked as an HSE Manager and prior to that as Chief Geologist within the Mining sector in Australia. Darren is currently operating his company EHS Resolutions. As a WHS professional, Darren has particular expertise in the successful creation and development of safety systems at the operating level and understands the WHS needs of both management and front line employees. He is a qualified Principal OHS auditor having audited around Australia and Internationally. Darren developed the 'Six Principles of Safety' model and is passionate about safety performance and how it can drive the organisational, cultural and behavioural changes required to achieve sustainable safety performance improvement.
