Abstract

Biography

Dr. Gail Gnoinski is a geologist and geochemist with a strong background in governance and standards in the mining industry. She has spent over 20 years in mining and minerals processing in a variety of commodities and roles, ranging from metals tracking value-chain optimisation, laboratory management and petrological-geochemical support services for multi-national corporates in Australia, South America, Namibia and South Africa. Gail has a track record of development, implementation and auditing of best practice standards and continuous improvement management in multi commodities, including base metals, iron ore and diamond. Her focus is on the mine value chain and capturing the value leakage across exploration to resource delineation to mine operation and the geometallurgical interface to the refinery or smelter and to shipment f the final product to the client.

Biography

Diana is a Senior Process Specialist with JKTech and undertakes metallurgical consulting activities from developing and managing test work programs and analysis, to optimisation of processing plants. Diana graduated from Monash University with a chemical engineering degree and began her career with MMG working as a plant and project metallurgist at their Golden Grove and Rosebery operations. During her metallurgist roles, she was involved in plant troubleshooting, maintenance/update of the metallurgical accounting systems, as well as identification and delivery of technical improvement projects.

Biography

Mr Jari Moilanen (MBA, M.Sc. Automation,) is a process control professional who has been working with automation of minerals processing plants for 20 years. He has been developing and commercializing process analyzers and process control solutions worldwide, as well as building competences for sales and the lifecycle of product offering. In his current role, Jari is responsible for digital concentrator plant concept at Metso with target to improve customer’s plant productivity with new digitally oriented operating ways of working. Jari is excited about bringing together the people and the data from equipment and systems, and applying modern techniques of process simulation and advanced analytics to open new insights to truly optimized production over the value chain and a step change in the productivity.

Biography

Germán Figueroa is a Senior Metallurgist at CSA Mine Metals Acquisition Limited, Cobar, NSW. He has worked on site for over 5 years commencing with plant metallurgy roles from CSA Glencore, Northparkes mines and prior consultancy from JKTech. Germán has also extensive experience in process mineralogy and fundamental Geology. German's formation in the mining industry commenced back in Mexico studying Geology, Geochemistry, and mineral liberation. Later in Australia, he accomplished a Ph. D. in flotation at the JKMRC, The University of Queensland. Then, he decided moving out of Brisbane to the wonderful outback NSW to work in operations, enjoying the locals' culture and friendship.

Biography

Jeremy is currently Director of Engineering for Weir Minerals Asia-Pacific, leading the engineering function delivering solutions to the mining and minerals processing industry. Beginning his career as a chartered Mechanical Engineer, he then completed commercial training through an MBA, and technical training in minerals processing, while working in various project, engineering management, technology, and innovation roles. He completed a PhD at the University of Queensland's JKMRC, where his research area was in techno-economic modelling and analysis of comminution in metalliferous mines, and where he continues his affiliation as an Adjunct Fellow. Jeremy has worked within the minerals processing and mining industry for the past 15 years.
