KEYNOTE | Advancement in experimental methodologies to produce phase equilibria and thermodynamic data in multicomponent systems

10:20 AM - 10:50 AM

Biography

Maksym is the Theme leader in Experimental and Thermodynamic Optimisation at the PyroSearch Pyrometallurgy Innovation Centre, School of Chemical Engineering, The University of Queensland. He has a Master of Sciences in Chemistry with Honours from the Kiev National Taras Shevchenko University in Ukraine, and a PhD from The University of Queensland. He has been a Research Fellow at UQ since 2019 and has co-authord over 100 papers with over 80 of these presented in over 30 conferences. Specialising in experimental liquidus studies of binary, ternary and multicomponent systems within the PbO-ZnO-FeO-Fe2O3-Cu2O-CaO-SiO2 system: high-temperature equilibration, sample preparation, electron probe microanalysis, improvement of experimental and analytical techniques; thermodynamic modelling: critical analysis of literature data, development of new efficient techniques for accurate thermodynamic optimisation of multicomponent systems.

Thermal analysis of molten salts and their mixtures with metals

11:45 AM - 12:05 PM

Biography

Dr. Dmitry Sergeev studied Chemical Engineering at the Ivanovo State University of Chemistry and Technology and has a PhD in Physical Chemistry. In 2013 he got Alexander von Humboldt fellowship for PostDoc’s and joint Thermochemistry group at the Forschungszentrum Jülich in Germany. Since this time, he worked with the topic of thermal energy storage materials. He leads several projects related to the thermodynamic description of salts, oxides and metallic systems, which are relevant for the energy sector and published 47 papers in peer-reviewed journals. Dmitry combining experimental methods with theoretical calculations for prediction and searching of new materials. At the same time, he has a lecture course “Thermophysics of Advanced Materials” at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and planning to do habilitation. In April 2023 he joined Netzsch company as a scientist in the applications laboratory, where he continues to work on the thermophysical and thermodynamic properties of inorganic materials.
