Speaker
Prof. Merete Tangstad
Professor
Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU)
KEYNOTE | Reducing CO2 emissions from the ferro-alloy and silicon production
10:20 AM - 10:50 AMBiography
Merete Tangstad was educated at NTH in 1989 and was also awarded her PhD at this institution. She worked in Elkem and Eramet in the period of 1990-2004 with production of ferromanganese alloys. Since 2004 she has been a professor at NTNU and her main fields are ferralloy production, silicon production and solar grade silicon processes.
Mr Minjoo Lee
Student
Hanyang University
Effect of slag composition on titanium distribution ratio between ferrosilicon melt and CaO-SiO2-Al2O3 slag at 1773K
10:55 AM - 11:15 AMBiography
I am currently a student at Hanyang University, pursuing material science and engineering as my major.
Dr Lassi Klemettinen
Staff Scientist
Aalto University
An attempt towards ferrochromium production using molten oxide electrolysis
11:20 AM - 11:40 AMBiography
Lassi Klemettinen works as a Staff Scientist at Aalto University, Finland. He got his D.Sc. degree from Aalto University in 2021. His research topics include trace-element distribution kinetics in non-ferrous pyrometallurgical systems and CO2 emission reduction in metallurgical processes. He has a special interest towards applying LA-ICP-MS for trace element concentration quantification in metallurgical samples. He has co-authored approximately 50 peer-reviewed scientific journal articles.
Dr Edson Kugara Chiwandika
Lecturer
Harare Institute of Technology
Ferroalloy extraction from a Zimbabwean ore using a closed DC furnace
11:45 AM - 12:05 PMBiography
Lecturer in the Department of Materials Technology and Engineering at the Harare institute of Technology and module lecture at the University of Zimbabwe. Research areas include application of
physical chemistry and kinetics in pyrometallurgical processes, low-grade ore utilization such as Titanium-containing ores, removal of impurities such as phosphorus and arsenic from iron ore, and
pollution prevention (CO 2 issues) mechanism in the steel industry.
