Speaker
Dr Svetlana Sineva
Postdoctoral Research Fellow
University of Queensland
Experimental and thermodynamic study of the phase equilibria in the NiO-CaO-FeO-Fe2O3 system in air and in equilibrium with metal (Fe-Ni) alloy
1:10 PM - 1:30 PMBiography
Dr. Sineva is an expert in the experimental study of phase equilibria in metallurgical systems with applying a diverse range of analytical methods, including scanning electron microscopy, electron probe microanalysis, thermal analysis, and others. Her research in focused on the experimental studies designed to improve and optimise thermodynamic database through application of advanced experimental methodologies. The experimental approach relies on equilibration experiments performed under specific conditions following quenching and examination of the obtained samples using various analytical methods. Dr Sineva mainly studied complex matte/slag/metals/speiss systems, Ni-containing slag systems as well as distribution of minor elements between phases.
Dr. Sineva earned a PhD from Saint- Petersburg Polytechnic University, has extensive teaching and mentoring experience. She has successfully guided over ten students in their Bachelor’s and Master’s research. Dr. Sineva has actively contributed to the scientific community as one of the organizers and the scientific secretary of the International Conference in Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry in Russia (RTAC) during the years 2013 and 2016.

Overview of the experimental phase equilibria studies of the Ni-Sn-S, Cu-Sb-S, Cu-Sn-S, Fe-Sb-As, and Fe-Sn-As systems
2:00 PM - 2:20 PMBiography
Research is a part of learning and teaching. I believe a researcher can be anyone who faces problems/challenges and try to resolve them happily.
Modassir Akhtar has completed his Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from RGPV, Bhopal, India in 2014 where he had obtained 10/10 in major project.
From 2014-17, he qualified Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) conducted various IITs. Through GATE, he admitted in Master of Technology, M.Tech in Industrial Metallurgy in National Institute of Technology Warangal (An Institute of National Importance). For M.Tech, he worked with CSIR-NML, Jamshedpur and performed outmost in dissertation B in his department.
He has published 16 papers in various international peer-reviewed journals.
He is a verified peer reviewer of 45 different journals and a conference. He has also performed Grant review for National Science Centre, Poland.
Now, Modassir is enjoying new research adventures with Prof. Eugene Jak and his team.
