Sevda is principal mining and rock mechanics engineer with Beck Engineering in Brisbane Australia. She has over 17 years of experience in technical consulting for mining and civil industries. Her expertise is in rock mechanics and rock fracture mechanics specifically modelling of complex physical phenomena and developing unique assessment programs for identifying and evaluating key governing mechanisms, parameters, and processes. Sevda also serves as the Regional ISRM Vice President for Australasia and at the Editorial Board of International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Science. She holds BSc and MSc in Mining Engineering and PhD in novel rock breaking methods from University of Queensland.

Alison currently holds the position of Director, Rocscience Australia overseeing operations in Australia and New Zealand. She obtained her PhD at UNSW and is a Chartered Professional (in Geotech) and RPEQ. Her area of expertise is rock mechanics and open pit slope stability, previously working in both ops and corporate roles for Anglo American and Rio Tinto as well as providing specialists consulting services for copper, gold, iron ore, coal and diamond operations in Australia, PNG, SE Asia and Africa.
