Terry Medhurst graduated in civil engineering and holds a PhD in coal mining geomechanics. Terry is a Chartered Engineer in both mining and civil engineering with 30 years experience in research and consulting practice.

Biography

The first author is a PhD student from the School of Material Science and Engineering at UNSW. He has been conducting failure analysis of rock and cable bolts since his honours project, and has been continuously working in stress corrosion failure related industry for more than five years.

Abstract

Biography

Currently employed as Senior Designer for Deilmann-Haniel GmbH, Germany, with 15 years of industry experience. He received his Ph.D. in mining and geology engineering in 2008. In his work he was responsible for determination of conditions of effective and safe conducting and maintaining of shafts, gate roads and roadways. For more complex problems he developed several sub-programs for FLAC3D and PFC3D software.
