Abstract

Biography

Dr. Diego Guido, Professor at the La Plata University and Researcher at the CONICET (Argentina), has a 20-year experience in hydrothermal metalliferous deposits, specializing on epithermal and related hot spring deposits. He worked as consultant for more than 30 mining companies around the world and served as VP of Exploration for Austral Gold company between 2016 and 2018. He is author of 170 scientific articles and more than 100 technical reports. He supervises researchers, postdoctoral, PhD, masters and undergraduate students in Argentina, New Zealand and Chile.

Ian Taylor: BSc (Geology) Hons, G.Cert (Geostat)MAusIMM (CP), Principal Consultant Ian’s expertise covers resource estimation, geostatistics, geological modelling, mine production geology, mine reconciliation, exploration geology and feasibility studies. He has over 25 years’ experience in the minerals industry working in open pit and underground mines and exploration roles. Ian has experience in a range of commodity styles including orogenic gold, epithermal gold and silver, intrusion related gold, porphyry copper-gold-molybdenum and komatiitic nickel sulphide. He meets JORC CP and NI 43-101 QP requirements for reporting of resources for orogenic gold, vein and epithermal gold, intrusion related gold, porphyry copper-gold-molybdenum and komatiitic nickel mineralisation styles.

Biography

Kevin B. Heather, B.Sc. (Hons), M.Sc., Ph.D., FAusIMM, FSEG Dr. Heather is a practical, field-based exploration geologist with a wealth of Archean geology and gold deposit experience, as well as extensive South American porphyry Cu-Au-Mo and epithermal Au-Ag exploration and discovery experience. Dr. Heather has a demonstrated track record of delivering high-quality technical work that has led to value-wealth creation in the junior exploration sector. Dr. Heather has 40 years of field experience in North and South America. Dr. Heather received a BSc. (honours) degree in geology from the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, Canada) in 1982, a MSc. degree in geology from Queen’s University (Kingston, Canada) in 1985, and a PhD. degree from the University of Keele (Keele, England) in 2001. Dr. Kevin B. Heather was a founding member of former TSX-listed Antares Minerals Inc. and directed the exploration that led to the discovery of the high-grade Haquira East deposit in Southern Peru, and was involved in the overall development of the Haquira Cu-Mo-Au porphyry project; which sold to First Quantum Minerals in December 2010 for C$650 million. Dr. Heather is currently the Chief Geological Officer (CGO) and Technical Committee Chairman for Regulus Resources Inc. (TSX-V: REG) and is responsible at a corporate level for overseeing the technical aspects of the company’s exploration activities and building a strong technical committee from his numerous, internationally recognized contacts; with special focus on bringing strong geological, metallurgical, and engineering professionals onto the committee to help advance Regulus’ projects. During his career Dr. Heather has held various positions; Senior Geoscientist by the Ontario Geological Survey (1985-1992), Senior Geoscientist for the Geological Survey of Canada (1992-1997), Senior Exploration Geologist for Barrick Gold Chile Ltda. (1997-2002), and as founder and consultant for The Rock Doctor Ltda. (2002-2003). Dr. Heather has worked on various world-class ore deposits including the high-sulphidation El Indio Au-Ag-Cu Mine (Chile), the high-sulphidation Pascua-Lama Au-Ag deposit (Chile-Argentina), and the low-sulphidation, epithermal Au-Ag Cerro Vanguardia deposit (Patagonia Argentina). Dr. Heather is a Fellow, Councillor, and Honorary Lecturer for the Society of Economic Geologists (SEG) and is co-founder and Chairman of the charity “Fundación Mineros Contra El Cancer”, a Chile-based charity dedicated to helping economical vulnerable children with cancer and their families.

Biography

At present McLean is the Regional Geoscientist for First Quantum Minerals Ltd in Latin America, based in Santiago, Chile. Amongst other things, he has been exploring for porphyry copper deposits around the American margin of the Pacific Rim for about 15 years, in Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Panama, Argentina, and Mexico. His current primary focus is on best practice exploration techniques/systems and R&D of new techniques for porphyry copper exploration.

Geology and Exploration of the Keno Hill Silver District, Yukon, Canada

Abstract

Biography

Mr. McOnie has over 40 years’ experience as a professional geologist in mineral exploration, government and the precious metal industry. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Geology from the University of Otago and a MSc in Geology from the University of Toronto. Prior to joining Alexco, he worked as a geologist throughout New Zealand, and in Australia and North America. He has worked at Keno Hill for Alexco since 2006 and managed exploration there in his current role since 2011. The authors are co-recipients of the 2018 H.H. “Spud” Huestis Award for Excellence in Prospecting and Mineral Exploration in B.C and Yukon by the Association for Mineral Exploration, specifically recognizing discovery of the Flame & Moth and Bermingham deposits currently estimated to contain more than 70 million ounces of high grade silver (in all categories).
