Abstract

Biography

Steve Garwin has over 30 years of experience as an exploration geologist and is one of the leading authorities on porphyry, epithermal and Carlin‐style mineralization in the circum‐Pacific region. He has previously worked with Newmont Mining for 10 years, including two years as Chief Geologist in Nevada, USA. Steve holds a BSc from Stanford and an MSc from the University of British Columbia, both degrees in geology. He obtained a PhD in geology (with distinction) at the University of Western Australia. Steve has been instrumental in the discovery of the porphyry copper-gold systems at Alpala–Cascabel, northern Ecuador for SolGold Plc.

Biography

BSc Geology from New Mexico Tech. MSc from University of Alaska, Fairbanks. Worked in Papua New Guinea since 1989. Principal Economic Geologist with PNG Geological Survey 1989 to 1994. Joined Highlands Gold( later Highlands Pacific) in 1994. Was at various times Project Geologist, Resource Geologist, Mine Geologist and Chief Geologist/Exploration Manager with Highlands. With HPL has worked on exploration, development and operations of porphyry copper-gold deposits (Fried River and Star Mountains), nickel cobalt laterites (Ramu and Sewa Bay), epithermal and narrow vein gold deposits (Kainantu and Woodlark), and epithermal high sulfidation deposits (Nena).

Biography

Mr Collins is a professional geologist with over twenty five years experience in the mining/exploration industry. He has held senior roles with companies such as North Limited, Anglogold Ashanti and more recently as China/Russia Exploration Manager and Chief Geologist for Eldorado Gold. In his capacity as Chief Geologist, he took an active role in developing mine geology models and in-mine exploration efforts in the company’s China operations. Mr Collins has experience in the North Asia exploration scene, having worked in the China/Mongolia/Russia region since 2004. Prior to this he worked in the industry throughout Australia, exploring for a wide range of base and precious metal deposits.

Biography

Yulia has 30 years of experience in mineral exploration for precious and base metals. She also has PhD degree from St Petersburg University. Yulia is recognised expert in different types of PGE deposits, covering all exploration stages from reconnaissance to resource definition. She worked on platinum projects in Russia, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. Yulia was directly involved in discovery of bedrock platinum deposit in Kamchatka, where she has worked for 10 years as principal geologist. This was followed by several years as chief geologist for 3 major PGE projects in Arctic, belonged to Anglo Platinum. Currently, Yulia is Consulting Geologist and director of NZ Exploration.
