Dr John Greenfield
Director Geoscience Acquisition & Synthesis
Geological Survey of NSW
Mineral potential mapping in western NSW: new insights into the distribution of IOCG, VMS, orogenic gold and Broken Hill-type mineral systems
11:00 AM - 11:15 AMBiography
John Greenfield is the Director of Geoscience Acquisition & Synthesis the Geological Survey of NSW. He has a 1st Class Honours degree in geology from the University of Wollongong and a PhD from the University of Sydney in 1998, mapping in east Antarctica and central Australia. After four years mapping in the Yilgarn for the Geological Survey of WA, he joined CSIRO Exploration & Mining working on base-metal mineral systems, and as a consultant with Gold Fields Ltd, he worked in Venezuela on orogenic gold targets. He has been with the Geological Survey of NSW for the last fourteen years overseeing regional mapping, geophysics and mineral systems.
Dr Travis Murphy
Principal Geologist
CSA Global
Development in understanding of the Tritton-Girilambone Cu district, Australia; Resolving hydrothermal mineralisation in multiply-deformed rocks
11:15 AM - 11:30 AMBiography
Travis is a geologist with over 23 years’ experience across multiple sectors of the resource industry; including exploration, mine operations, planning, and production; as well as technical research roles.
Travis has proven leadership skills and successes in exploration (lead team to discovery), mining (mine-geology as well as broader application of geoscience solutions to mining and minerals processing), and applied research (project lead in significant DNRM-GSQ funded Cloncurry Cu-Au prospectivity analysis; and key role in applied, industry-funded research into geological drivers of mass-mining (caving) methods).
He specialises in structural geology, exploration and mine geology, and targeted geometallurgy/deposit-knowledge; and holds an Honorary Senior Fellow appointment at UQ-Sustainable Minerals Institute.
Ms Angela Lorrigan
General Manager, Discovery And Growth
Diversified Minerals Ltd
Distribution of gold within the Dargues Reef alteration system
11:30 AM - 11:45 AMBiography
Angela Lorrigan is an exploration manager with extensive experience and success in gold and base metal mineralisation in Australia and New Zealand. The discovery of the Hera deposit in NSW being a career highlight. Angela now serves as General Manager, Discovery and Growth for Diversified Minerals, a company that fully owns and operates the Henty Gold Mine in Tasmania and the Dargues Gold Project in NSW.

Exploration for sedimentary-hosted carbonate base metal mineralisation at Manuka, Winduck Shelf, Darling/Cobar Basin, NSW Australia
11:45 AM - 12:00 PMBiography
JAMES LALLY | Principal Structural & Resource Geologist | BSc Geology (Hons), MSc, PhD, MAIG
James is a Principal Resource, Exploration and Structural Geologist, with 22 years experience in the mineral exploration industry. He is experienced in project generation, exploration project management, technical due diligence, GIS, data management, resources and structural geology. Expertise includes proficiency and implementation of GIS and database systems, structural geology, regional to prospect/deposit scale mapping, integration of geological and geophysical data into 2D and 3D geological models.
Mr Christopher Leslie
PhD Candidate
CODES, University of Tasmania
Fertile magma genesis: a zircon perspective
12:00 PM - 12:15 PMBiography
Christopher Leslie is currently a PhD Candidate at the Centre for Ore Deposit and Earth Sciences at the University of Tasmania. His research is focused on the Cowal District, New South Wales where he aims to unravel the metallogenic evolution of this unique part of the Macquarie Arc. Before commencing his PhD in late 2016, Christopher worked extensively in mineral exploration primarily in the Canadian Cordillera. He has an M.Sc. in geological sciences from the University of British Columbia and a B.Sc. in geological sciences from the University of Alberta.
Dr. Hongying Qu
Associate Research Fellow
Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences
Metallogenesis of stratabound Cu mineralization in the Dabaoshan deposit, Northern Guangdong Province, South China
12:15 PM - 12:30 PMBiography
I got Ph.D degree in Engineering in Mineral Resource Prospecting and Exploration at Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences on July, 2010, got M.Sc. degree in Mineralogy, Petrology, and Mineral Deposit Geology at China University of Geosciences (Beijing) on July, 2007, and got B.Eng degree in Computer Science at Beijing Electronic Science and Technology Institute on July, 2001. From 2008 to 2009, I studied at Clausthal University of Technology as the joint Ph.D. From July 2010 to now, I am working at the Institute of Mineral Resources, Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences. I have published 19 articles, 4of them in English.
