Abstract

Biography

Dr Findlay gained his Honours Degree in Geology at Oxford University in 1972 and PhD from Auckland University in 198). His work has taken him from Arctic Norway to the Antarctic. He spent 12 years with the Papua New Guinea Geological Survey, serving as Assistant Director i/c Regional Mapping and Mineral District Surveys before moving to consulting in PNG and the China-SE Asia-Indonesia-Australia region. His expertise lies in structural geology, all facets of geological mapping, greywacke-hosted gold, porphyry and epithermal systems. He is currently Vice President of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists, with strong interests in professional issues and mentoring.

BSc Geology from New Mexico Tech. MSc from University of Alaska, Fairbanks. Worked in Papua New Guinea since 1989. Principal Economic Geologist with PNG Geological Survey 1989 to 1994. Joined Highlands Gold( later Highlands Pacific) in 1994. Was at various times Project Geologist, Resource Geologist, Mine Geologist and Chief Geologist/Exploration Manager with Highlands. With HPL have worked on exploration, development and operations of porphyry copper-gold deposits (Fried River and Star Mountains), nickel cobalt laterites (Ramu and Sewa Bay), epithermal and narrow vein gold deposits (Kainantu and Woodlark), and epithermal high sulfidation deposits (Nena)

ANDREW J. VIGAR | Principal Geologist | BSc (App. Geol.), FAusIMM (CP), MSEG, MAIG Andrew is a geologist with 40 years’ experience in the minerals industry covering exploration to mining, corporate finance and education. He held multiple executive level positions prior to commencing consulting in 1996. He founded Mining Associates in 2003, Alligator Energy (ASX:AGE) in 2010 and K92 Mining in 2015. He is the Chairman of Mining Associates, the Brisbane Mining Club and lectures at the University of Queensland.
