Abstract

Biography

Mick Brayshaw is one of Orica's global 4D™ Underground Subject Matter Experts and an Implementation Technician. He began at Orica in 2016 as an Underground Shot Firer, quickly becoming a mentor in blasting operations, focusing on best practice industry standards in development and production charging. In 2021, Mick moved to Technical Services, supporting underground mining projects, and playing a key role in the world's first 4D™ trial at Dugald River. Since 2024, Mick has been a Global 4D™ Implementation Technician, leading site trials in Chile, Alaska, and Finland.

Abstract

Biography

Matt Bouwmeester is an underground mining professional with fifteen years of industry experience. Originally from an operational background, Matt began his career in Western Australia, before coming home to Queensland. Since 2012, Matt has been an employee at Ernest Henry Operations, Cloncurry, Queensland. Matt is a qualified shotfirer and loader operator and has both production and development operational experience in drill and blast. Matt is also a qualified underground trainer/assessor and performed this role for three and a half years at Ernest Henry, where he was able utilise his operational knowledge and interpersonal skills to educate and maintain the skills set of mining operators. In 2022, Matt completed a mining engineering degree at the University of New South Wales. Since then, Matt has worked in the short-term engineering team, firstly in production, then in the weekly mine planning role. Matt is currently the three-month scheduling engineer at Ernest Henry Operations.

Biography

Edward is a Degree Qualified Mine Engineer with over 12 years’ experience in underground mining with proven ability in short term scheduling, drill and blast design and other key underground engineering roles. Edward has worked in various mines in Australia and abroad across different commodities from base metals to precious metals in both stoping and caving mining methods. He has specialised in underground drilling and blasting and currently works as a Senior Technical Consultant with Dyno Nobel Asia Pacific. He is heavily engaged in drilling and blasting technical projects in Australia and abroad.

Biography

Bart is an accomplished mining engineer with over 17 years of experience in the industry. He currently serves as the Unit Manager of Technical Services at Agnew Gold Mine, a position he has held since October 2024. Prior to this, Bart held a similar role at St Ives Gold Mine. His career includes significant tenures at Resolve Mining Solutions as a Mining Manager and at Mining Plus as a Principal Mining Consultant. Bart's extensive background also features roles at Doray Minerals Limited, AngloGold Ashanti, Byrnecut Offshore, and Xstrata Nickel. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mining from Curtin University (WA School of Mines).

Biography

With over 14 years of experience at Orica, Ricardo has held various roles, including Senior Engineer for WebGen in Perth, Australia, since August 2019. Prior to this, Ricardo served as a Technical Services Engineer in Brazil and Blasting Engineer, supporting South America and the Caribbean regions in quarrying, open cut and underground markets. He holds a degree in Mining Engineering from the University of São Paulo.
