Biography

Fubao Zhou is the Professor of Safety Science & Engineering and Director of the Talent Office at China University of Mining and Technology. He has been Vice-President of the 11th International Mine Ventilation Congress in 2018 and Deputy Director of China Mine Ventilation Professional Committee from 2013. His research interests span over a variety of topics in mine ventilation, industrial dust prevention, CBM prevention & utilization, utilization of underground coal fires, and related occupational health issues. He is the author and co-author of more than 150 papers. He is the recipient of several national and international research awards and is the members of editorial board of several International Journals. He has consulted for large and small collieries as well as served on numerous group companies. Currently, research programs led by Professor Zhou include National Key Technologies R&D Program in the field of key technologies for intelligent decision-making and emergency control of mine ventilation during mine disaster, National 111 project etc.

Biography

Dr Guangyao Si is a Lecturer at the School of Minerals and Energy Resources Engineering (previously known as School of Mining Engineering), UNSW Sydney. Dr Si was trained as a mining engineer from the top mining university in China, China University of Mining Technology. He obtained his PhD degree in Mining Engineering from the Royal School of Mines, Imperial College London, UK. Having over ten years’ educational and research experience in Mining Engineering across three continents, Dr Si is passionate about contributing to the ventilation and gas management related research in Australia. Dr Si is specialised in gas drainage, mine ventilation control, mining geomechanics, and dust and heat management. He holds nearly 1.3 million AUD research grants and lectures Mine Ventilation, Mining Geomechanics, and Mining System for both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He is responsible for mining health and safety related teaching and research activities, and also the Chair for the Occupational Health and Safety Committee in the school.

Silvia Black obtained a BSc (App. Chem.) degree from Curtin University, a Grad Dip (Food and Drug Analysis) from UNSW and a PhD (Hydrometallurgical Chemistry) from Murdoch University. Silvia’s scientific expertise spans over 30 years in fields of chemistry in mining, food, water, education, racing, forensic and environmental science. Silvia is Manager of Project Development at ChemCentre, relating particularly to mining-related environmental and technical challenges. Silvia leads and manages a portfolio of mining-related projects that are funded directly by industry and by research funding bodies. Silvia is Fellow Member of the AusIMM and Fellow Member of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (FRACI).

The current director of the Key Laboratory of Coal Mine Gas and Fire Prevention and Education Ministry of China, the deputy secretary general of Mine Ventilation Professional Committee of China Coal Industry Safety Science and Technology Society. Been selected as the fourth batch (2019) members of Chinese National Special Support Program for High-level Personnel Recruitment which is also called Ten-thousand Talents Program.
