Abstract

Biography

Grant has over 10 years’ mineral processing engineering experience in design, optimisation, operation, research and development. Grant is a passionate mineral processing engineer that enjoys implementing process improvements by applying fundamental understanding to industrial problems. In 2017 he was awarded the Minerals Engineering Young person of the year award. He has been involved in successful site-based industry research over the past ten years covering five continents and eight commodities. At Ausenco, Grant co-ordinates the comminution group including the assessment of new technologies and flowsheets. He also provides input at the front-end of engineering design projects, consults into operations, and assesses the application of enhanced process technologies such as coarse particle flotation and bulk ore sorting.

Biography

Sam Palaniandy is the Global Product Manager at Nippon Eirich (OEM of TowerMill) based in Brisbane. His current role includes technical product support, business development, technical marketing and sales for the TowerMill business. Sam’s technical competence includes fine grinding circuit process audits (Australia, USA, Chile, Brazil, South Africa, Sweden, and China) for process improvement. He has a strong interest in process modelling and ore characterization. He has developed the gravity-induced stirred mill process simulator and currently he is developing ore characterization test for stirred mill feed. On the commercial site, Sam is currently involved extensively in new market development in Oceana, Russia/CIS and Asia for the TowerMill business.

Biography

Malcolm has applied fundamental comminution research to design and process improvement on over 60 mines worldwide during 30 years at Mintek, UCT, and the JKMRC. His work is published in over 200 papers. Malcolm collaborates extensively, with close compatriots on 5 continents forming the Global Comminution Collaborative. Malcolm’s research vision is of integrated total process simulation as a tool for innovation – linking geology, mining, energy and size reduction, gangue rejection and recovery into flexible process design and process optimisation.

Abstract

Biography

Andres Paz is currently a Senior Process Engineer, Comminution, for Metso Outotec. With 17 years’ experience in the industry, Andres currently specialises in the introduction of stirred milling technology into minerals processing applications. Apart from commissioning SAG and HPGR mills, Andres has also successfully commissioned several HIGmill projects in Australia, as well as validating scaleup and sizing methodology. Andres has authored numerous industry papers and contributed to various publications during his career to date. He has a postgraduate diploma in Metallurgy and a bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical) from Curtin University of Technology.
