Abstract

Biography

Kyle Bartholomew is senior metallurgist at Metcom Technologies. Kyle has been Rob McIvor’s understudy since 1998, and has been with Metcom Technologies since 2013. He has also worked for the minerals processing laboratory of the University of Minnesota, Seagate Technology, and Cleveland Cliffs. He holds bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Michigan Technological University, a master’s degree in management of technology from the University of Minnesota, and is co-inventor of five US patents.

Biography

Mohsen is an Associate Professor at Julius Kruttschnitt Mineral Research Centre (SMI-JKMRC). He joined JKMRC in 2011 after receiving his PhD in IRAN. Mohsen has successfully finished several industrial based projects in Copper, Gold, Iron and Coal processing plants. His area of interest and research is in modelling, control and optimisation of comminution process. In his current role in SMI-JKMRC, he is leading a research program in Advanced Process Prediction and Control, and he is the research leader of AMIRA P9Q project which is the latest in a long line of P9 projects focused on translating the previous P9 research projects to industry process improvement tools.

Automated mill relining – current progress and the future

Biography

Stephen Gwynn-Jones is Russell Mineral Equipment’s Applications Engineering Manager – an essential capability and crucial cog in the wheel that is RME and its mission to visibly and defensibly improve concentrator performance, availability and safety, for its clients. Whilst Stephen’s role operates in an engineering context, his close collaboration with product development, sales, marketing, and the Customer, as well as his ability to articulate authentically, is indispensable for the scoping, design and build of RME’s engineered-to-order (ETO) mill relining machines. Stephen’s highly-able team work as part of order acceptance to deliver the technical and commercial elements associated with capital equipment purchases and ensure the advice provided to RME’s Customers is world’s best practice. Stephen also leads the specialised engineering services group who work the end-client to apply RME’s MILL RELINE DIRECTOR (MRD) simulation technology and liner interface assessments which uncover new opportunities to unlock mill reline productivity and plant capability.

Biography

Michael (Mike) Becker completed his degree in Chemical Engineering at the North-West University, Potchefstroom, South Africa in 2008. Mike is currently a Senior Metallurgist at Orway Mineral Consultants (OMC). Prior to this, Mike has worked with Gold Fields for 5 years, where he gained international project exposure in Africa, Europe and South-America. Since starting at OMC in 2016, Mike has been involved in sizing, commissioning and optimising comminution circuits for over 100 projects, including the recently constructed Yaoure Project (by Perseus Mining) and Mako Project. Mike has ongoing involvement with a number of these projects via the MillROC platform.
