Claire is a recognised international expert in environmental management and is currently serving in Director roles for the Centre of the Leading for High Reliability Centre and Centre from Water in the Mineral Industry at UQ. She has more than 20 years’ experience in environmental and water resources management for the mining sector.

Biography

Mifanwy is a Managing Consultant based in ERM’s Brisbane office experienced in environmental approvals. She has been involved in numerous mining and renewable energy facilities from project feasibility through to construction. Prior to ERM, Mifanwy held various roles within the Queensland Government across policy, assessment, compliance and enforcement. Her experience includes application assessment, compliance and policy drafting.

Abstract

Biography

Dr Anna Kaksonen develops biotechnological processes for environmental and industrial applications in the mining, energy, water supply, waste and wastewater treatment industries. Research topics of special interest have included: mining biotechnology (e.g. bioleaching, biooxidation, bioprecipitation, bioflotation), bioenergy, bioremediation of contaminated sites, waste/wastewater treatment and resource recovery, circular economy and mitigation of microbially caused problems such as biofouling, bioclogging and biocorrosion.

Abstract

Biography

Dr. Shaygan is a research fellow at The University of Queensland. She is a soil scientist who works across disciplines to understand the effect and interaction of chemical processes on soil physical structure and transport properties. Dr. Shaygan's research focuses on rehabilitation of degraded landscapes and mine sites, quantification and modelling of water flow and solute and nutrient transport in porous media, characterization of soil hydrological and mechanical properties and soil salinity management.
