Abstract

Biography

Greg is a Principal Process Consultant with over 40 years’ experience in extractive metallurgy, particularly in the development, engineering and commercialisation of hydrometallurgical processes. Greg is the Hatch Global Lithium Director. His career has focussed on process and technical innovation, demonstration plants, process costings, process design and reviews and commercial plant commissioning. Greg has previously worked for MIM/Xstrata, Australian Magnesium and as a Professor in Extractive Metallurgy at the University of Queensland. Having worked at senior project directorate level, he has extensive experience and knowledge in the area of large-scale project development encompassing all phases of project lifecycle. He established the Hatch Lithium Centre of Excellence in Brisbane. Greg has recent experience acting as either process manager, consultant or project sponsor for lithium project developments for Covalent, POSCO, Albemarle, Pilbara Minerals, AMG-NV, Nemaska Lithium, Galaxy Resources/Tianqi China, Li-Cycle recycling, Tianqi lithium metal, Talison’s Mineral Conversion Plant, and Rio Tinto’s Jadar and Rincon developments.

Biography

Kwasi Ampofo is the Head of Metals and Mining at BloombergNEF based in London. His team's research covers industrial metals, rare-earth metals, battery metals and the pathways for miners to reach net-zero. Prior to BloombergNEF, he was a mining engineer at Anglo American and a management consultant at Nous Group in Australia. He completed his PhD in Mineral Economics at the University of Queensland, Australia.

Biography

John Warner has helped steer JordProxa's growth from a start-up in 2018 to becoming a major supplier of crystallisers to the battery chemical market. John currently lives and works in Perth. Prior to the formation of JordProxa he has designed and sold process plant and equipment, much of it in modular form, to leading global companies. Many of these sales introduced new products into JordProxa's portfolio. He has worked extensively on clean air and clean water projects in both the research and corporate sectors in Australia, USA, Korea, India and Chile. These projects have included the application of evaporation and crystallisation technology to achieve zero liquid discharge solutions. Before moving to Perth, Dr Warner lived and worked for Jord in Houston USA for two years and Dubai UAE for nearly three years. Earlier in his career he led a research team at CSIRO that was a recipient of the Chairman's Award in 1998. He holds a B Chem Eng ( 1st class) and PhD from the University of Melbourne, Australia.

Biography

Michael has over 35 years of experience in the management and development of companies engaged in the business of mineral resources, mining finance and process technology in gold, nickel, cobalt, chromium and platinum group metals in Australia and South Africa. He led the acquisition and re-consolidation of the mineral rights and mining tenements covering the Weld Range Complex commencing in 2007. Michael led and has managed the evaluation of Range Well Mineral Resources in Western Australia since 2009, the Ausinox Stainless Steel Alloy Project, the Range Well MHP Project, as well as the Battery Chemicals Complex in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In May this year, Michael led the acquisition of the Battery Materials Business of Johnson Matthey plc in the United Kingdom comprising world leading battery materials technology, pilot plants, laboratories, and battery technology centres. He has been a Director and CEO of EV Metals Group plc since 2015. He was formerly a Director and CEO of Podium Minerals Limited.

Biography

Before joining the Minerals Research Institute in November 2018, Nicole spent the last 15 years at the Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia coordinating industry input on a variety of government regulatory and policy issues and facilitating collaboration within the resources sector. Having had responsibility for the policy portfolios economics and tax; infrastructure; environment; land access; exploration; people strategies; workplace health and safety and training enabled Nicole to develop a comprehensive understanding of the challenges being faced by the mining sector. Nicole has completed a Masters of Science in Industrial and Organisational Psychology from UWA and a Masters in Risk Management from UNSW.

Biography

Michael Tamlin is Chief Operating Officer of Neometals. He is responsible for the development and commercialiaation of Neometals’ Lithium Chemicals project and Lithium-ion Battery Recycling projects. Mike has a degree in Metallurgy and more than 30 years’ experience in metals industries covering lithium, tantalum, vanadium, base metals, industrial minerals and chemicals. His lithium experience covers the development of the global chemical and technical spodumene market, hard rock and brine lithium projects in Australia, China, South America and Canada. He has a strong track record in maximising commercial performance, developing and implementing strategy and brings experience in the development of lithium projects, lithium supply negotiation, lithium markets and management at executive level.
