LithSonic™ - Lithium metal production for the post-lithium-ion battery era

11:55 AM - 12:10 PM

Abstract

Biography

Dr Jewell is a chemical engineer focusing on the extraction of of light metals. Daniel’s PhD examined the production of pure titanium by the electro-extraction of oxygen from TiO2 (FFC/Metalysis process) before he joined the University of Cambridge to develop the the Chinuka Process: electro-deposition of titanium in molten salts. Daniel moved to Australia in 2014 to lead the research and development of a continuous metallothermic titanium extraction process (TiRO/Coogee Titanium) before joining CSIRO in 2016. He currently develops the MagSonic™ and LithSonic™ processes for extraction of magnesium and lithium metal, respectively, through a carbothermal reduction coupled to supersonic quenching.
