Biography

Ian is a geologist with postgraduate qualifications in geostatistics, mining geology and computing who has over 35 years worldwide experience in the mining industry. Following 16 years working for a major multi-national, multi-commodity mining company in a variety of technical and geological management roles, Ian entered the consulting sphere. For over ten years Ian managed and grew the resource evaluation function of a major mining consultancy, which grew from a staff of around 30 to over 200 during this time. He also assumed responsibility for a Training business which was among the most successful in the industry and initiated a Risk Services division. Ian’s skills are in resource evaluation, public reporting, quantitative risk assessment, strategic advice, geostatistics, reconciliation, project management, statutory and competent persons’ reporting and mining geology studies. Ian was a founding Director of Optiro and is now an Executive Consultant at Snowden Optiro.

Biography

Danny is a geostatistician with a background in geological modelling, mine planning and surveying. He has 30 years’ international experience with varied commodities including gold, copper, mineral sands, iron ore, nickel laterites, nickel sulphides, bauxite and phosphate. In over 20 years of consulting Danny has had exposure to more than 300 different projects. Danny’s skills cover, 3D geological modelling, Resource estimation and technical reviews. Danny is a Competent Person for JORC Code and qualified person for NI 43-101 reporting of resources for numerous commodities and deposit types.

Biography

Shauna Martin is currently the Senior Database Geologist at Aurelia Metals. Shauna has over 15 years in the mining industry as a geologist and database manager. Beginning her career as a geologist in iron ore before moving into database management covering a range of commodities including gold, uranium and base metal deposits. Working primarily in Australia, Shauna has provided services to those in Laos, South America, DRC and West Africa. Shauna has a passion for geological data management and enjoys working with people to share her knowledge and experience to ensure only accurate good quality data are used to make key business decisions.

Biography

Phil has worked in the mining industry for more than 18 years. He has held technical roles in both open cut and underground operations along the East Coast of Australia and has operational experience in a range of different commodities such as gold, tin, and coal, and in a variety of geological settings. His production experience has been supplemented by 8 years consulting experience where he has supported clients on operations both in Australia and overseas. Phil holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Geology and has completed a Graduate Certificate in Geostatistics.

Biography

Lynn works in the Orebody Knowledge Centre of Excellence at Rio Tinto, looking after the group Resource and Reserve reporting. She is a geologist by background with over 25 years’ experience in operational and consulting roles in the mining industry. Lynn actively advocates for inclusion both within Rio Tinto and across the Resources sector. She is a past Chair of the national AusIMM WIMnet committee and sits on the state WIMWA summit committee. She is a recipient of the 2014 MCA Women in Mining Scholarship for the AICD Company Director’s Course and was awarded a place on the 100 Inspirational Women in Mining list in 2018. Lynn has two daughters and two dogs and when she’s not working or studying she loves hanging out with her family.
