Abstract

Biography

Bob Kelly is a Metallurgical Engineer, having worked for forty years in operations, research and new project development with Rio Tinto Australia. Bob worked a further ten years as consulting Metallurgist with Mineral Technologies Pty Led, Queensland, Australia Over the past six years Bob has worked as Metallurgical Director of IMP Technologies Pty. Ltd. and Cyclomag Pty. Ltd, with his long-term colleague Chris Kelsey (the inventor of the Kelsey Jig).Chris and Bob are currently focused on the development of super fine crushing as an alternative to grinding (in general) and on an alternative magnetic separation methodology for the concentration of mixed iron oxide ores.

Biography

Venkat Nunna commenced as a Research Scientist in October 2009, graduated from Gulbarga University, India, with a Science degree and Post-graduate qualifications in Mineral Processing. He subsequently obtained another Master’s degree in Process Metallurgy from Mangalore University, India. Venkat has 29 years of experience in iron ore processing and research. Venkat is currently the CSIRO Senior Research Scientist/Project leader, since joining in CSIRO has worked primarily in the Carbon Steel Materials Group of CSIRO Mineral Resources, responsible for conducting applied research to examine the impurity removal, influence of impurity elements and gangue minerals on iron ore beneficiated products.

Exploring iron ore fines beneficiation in a South African Context

Abstract

Biography

Carla Da Corte graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2009 with a BSc in Chemical Engineering. She joined the physical separation group of the Minerals Processing Division (MPD) in January 2010 as an engineer in training and is currently employed as a senior engineer. In March 2019 she successfully completed her Masters with a focus on selective flocculation of hematite from slimes. Under supervision of the head and specialist consultants of physical separation her work has centred on flowsheet development on a variety of mineral commodities, namely; Iron ore, Chromite, Fluorite, Copper and Rare Earth Elements.

WASM graduate who has predominantly worked in the copper - gold industry in the operation, management, design and optimization of concentrators and gold leach plants. Main focus is improving the performance of SAG mills, and reducing the costs of operating a grinding circuit.

Biography

Edis Nunes is the Metso crushing and screening application specialist in South America. Edis started his carreer working for process technology and innovation group, conducting Integration and Optimisation Projects (Mine-to-Mill), for Brazilian, Chilian and Peruvian mines. Today he works for the PPE group (Process, Proposals and Execution) responsible for crushing and screeing sizing and selection in complex systems proposals. Edis has completed his Master of Science in 2017, covering the screening sizing and selection process for high natural moisture iron ores.
