Biography

Clayton is a Geologist with over 25 years’ experience in the Australian exploration and mining industry. Most of his career has been focused in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, exploring for and developing large Iron Ore deposits. This has principally been on Fortescue Metals Group’s existing or proposed new mines, having been employed by Fortescue since the start-up year of the company.

Abstract

Biography

Kari graduated with MSc in geology and mineralogy at the University of Turku (Finland) and with PhD in mineral processing at the University of Leoben (Austria). He has been employed at LKAB (Luossavaara-Kiirunavaara AB) in Sweden since 2001. First as a senior mine geologist and since 2012 in a many-sided role as a specialist in process mineralogy. Besides his own research area, he supports several departments of LKAB in questions of mineralogical and material problems. He has also created a large professional network including several European universities and Research Institutes during work-related research projects

Biography

Angus Baird Principle Geologist, Rio Tinto Exploration Angus Baird is responsible for Brown Fields exploration for Rio Tinto Exploration based in Perth. He is responsible for Pilbara exploration outside of the mining hubs. Prior to this role Angus worked for Rio Tinto Iron Ore Resource Development in a number of positions that focused on exploration across the Pilbara. Angus joined Rio Tinto in 2006, initially working on evaluation of the West Angelas deposits. Angus holds an honours degree in Geology and a Ph.D. in Carbonate Sedimentology from the University of London.

Biography

Daniel Guibal’s expertise covers all aspects of mining geostatistics from drill spacing optimization to resource estimation and simulation. He has worked on a wide range of deposit types, particularly iron ore in the Pilbara, where he undertook studies for all major mining houses (Rio Tinto, BHP, FMG). Daniel graduated from the Nancy School of Mines. He was last employed as a Corporate Consultant with SRK Consulting, with which he maintains an Association. Daniel is Fellow(CP) of the AusIMM.
