Daniel van der Spuy has 20 years’ experience in advanced measurement, control and optimisation of minerals processing plants. He studied and worked on three different continents. After completing his bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering at the University of Pretoria, he went on to do his Master’s in Control Systems at Stanford University in the USA. Daniel is co-founder and owner of the dynamic Australian based METS company, Process IQ, where his responsibilities as Technical Director include managing and growing the business, supplying and supporting technical solutions and evaluating and developing new products and services. Process IQ has been growing strongly in all areas over the last 7 years, including turnover, clientele and product range. Before moving to Australia in 2006, Daniel worked in the Measurement and Control division of Mintek in South Africa, where he was involved in both developing and deploying technology worldwide. Daniel has a strong aptitude for applying technology to practical problems and a keen interest in the technologies that are enabling the Digital Transformation of our industry, like IIoT, cloud-based solutions and artificial intelligence.
