Abstract

Biography

Derrin Auerswald is a graduate chemical engineer with over twenty years’ experience in the metallurgical industry, including process engineering and management roles in both operations and project environments. Derrin’s experience covers hydrometallurgical, pyro metallurgical and electrometallurgical processes. He has considerable experience in the gold industry and been involved in process design, study work, technology development and plant design for a number of uranium, gold and base metal projects. He is currently Process Engineering manager at SGS Bateman, located in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Biography

Alan Bax is a metallurgist with 34 years’ experience in the mining industry working on a variety of projects both in Australia and overseas. His experience includes 10 years in plant operations including 6 years as Mill Superintendent working in gold operations ranging from 200,000 tpa - 6 Mtpa. Alna has 24 years in consulting engineering in gold, PGM, copper, silver, nickel, tin/tantalum and spodumene. Alan is a Senior Research Associate with the Curtin University Gold Technology Group and has consulted for the AMIRA P420 project since 2004.

Biography

Jaco is an experienced metallurgical process engineer with previous employers including BHP Billiton, SGS, and Sherritt International. With an interest in process modeling and advanced analytics, he founded Flank Engineering Inc. to fuse metallurgical expertise with the latest data analytics tools to uncover actionable insights and develop solutions that help its clients extract more value from their processes. Jaco holds a BEng Chemical Engineering from University of Pretoria, South Africa, and an MBA from Queen's Smith School of Business, Kingston, Ontario. He is a professional engineer registered with PEO (Ontario).

Biography

Pale graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy (Minerals Processing) from the Papua New Guinea University of Technology, and has been with the Porgera Processing Team for over 7 years. Pale is a Plant Metallurgist at the PJV Anawe Process Plant and has been heavily involved in process flow improvement and initiatives in the last 2 years.
