Madi is a geologist, holding a Bachelor of Science (international) from the University of New South Wales, majoring in Earth Science and minoring in German studies. She began her mining career in 2021 as a Graduate mine Geologist at Glencore’s George Fisher Mine in Mount Isa, QLD before progressing to Mine Geologist. Over her time at GFM whilst developing skills in diamond drill design and scheduling, grade control block modelling and grade management, she completed secondments as a Senior Geologist and Geotechnical Engineer, broadening her experience across mine operations. Madi is currently working as a Resource Geologist for Glencore, working on GFM’s Resource model and evaluation, a role she started in July of this year

Steve Coughlan is the Executive Chairman of the Byrnecut Group, a private suite of companies headquartered in Perth, Western Australia. One of the original founders of Byrnecut, established in Kalgoorlie in 1987, Steve has overseen the growth of the group, which now has annual turnover of over $3 billion AUD. The Byrnecut group operates globally and has developed a reputation for professionalism and reliability. The group employs over 6,500 people and operates a multimillion-dollar fleet of specialised underground mining equipment around the globe.

Emily Palmer is an emerging leader in Australia's mining industry, recognised for her ability to combine technical expertise with people-focused leadership. In less than eight years, she has progressed from Graduate Geotechnical Engineer to Superintendent Mine Control Operations at BHP's Olympic Dam, gaining diverse experience across engineering, mine execution, and contracts management. In her current role, Emily leads a team of 15 professionals within the Mine Control Room and is responsible for an annual operating budget of $9 million. Operating 24/7, the Control Room supports up to 500 underground workers and serves as the central coordination hub during mine evacuation events. Emily is known for fostering high-performing teams through a leadership approach grounded in safety, collaboration, continuous improvement, and the development of others. Her passion for operational excellence is matched by a strong commitment to helping people achieve their potential. Beyond her professional responsibilities, Emily serves as President of the Eastern Australian Ground Control Group (EAGCG), a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to advancing technical excellence and knowledge sharing across the mining industry. Through mentoring, professional development, and industry collaboration, she actively supports the growth of the next generation of mining professionals.
