Maptek CEO Eduardo Coloma began working for Maptek 27 years ago in sales and technical support services in South America. He then moved to Perth, Western Australia in 2012 as Sales Manager for the Western Australian region, Mine Planning Business Manager and Evolution Global Product Manager. Eduardo has knowledge and experience in optimisation, mine design and scheduling especially for open pit metalliferous deposits. He holds a Civil, Industrial and Mining Engineering degree from the University of Antofagasta, Chile and completed an Executive MBA at Adolfo Ibáñez University in 2008.

Orlando Leiva is a Mining Engineer from Universidad de La Serena (Chile), with more than 30 years of experience in open pit mining, as much in planning, operations and project development. In the engineering area he has been able to acquire solid knowledge and practice of strategic, long- and short-term planning, mine design and scheduling, budgeting and cost control, geotechnical investigations, studies of mine fleet requirements, optimization of operational parameters and inclusion of ESG factors in mine design. In the area of operations, he has developed abilities in the handling of interpersonal relationships, team building and personnel´s performance management, besides the capacity to deliver production according to mine plans aligned with the values and policies of my employer. In project development he has been exposed to deal with the largest international mining companies, different stakeholder expectations and environmental regulations to construct new mine operations or expansions in different countries in South America, Australasia and USA.

Arja Jewbali is Head, Resource Management, Global for Newmont. She holds a Doctorate in Geostatististics from the University of Queensland and has close to 20 years of experience having worked extensively across gold, silver, iron ore, and base metal deposits. Throughout her career, she has built and audited resource models, led global teams, and developed geostatistical best practices that improve mine planning outcomes. Before joining Newmont in 2011 she was employed by Rio Tinto Iron Ore in a number of positions including Resource Geologist and Senior Geostatistician. She has co-authored multiple papers on geostatistics and resource modeling and has a specific interest in the application of advanced innovative geostatistical techniques for quantification of resource uncertainty and its corresponding impact on mine planning.
