Yves Van Haarlem leads the X-ray Technology Group at CSIRO Mineral Resources. With over 15 years of experience developing advanced analysers, Yves began his career in particle physics before applying his expertise to the mining industry. He specialises in real-time ore characterisation, developing X-ray and nuclear-based technologies, from X-ray fluorescence to activation techniques, for on-belt and in-slurry applications.

Garry Noble is a Senior Product Applications Specialist at Thermo Fisher Scientific with over 25 years’ experience in PGNAA-based online elemental analysis for the mining and mineral processing industries. His experience spans analyser calibration, product development, commissioning, and process-control applications. In his current role he is focused on applying real-time PGNAA measurement to practical process-control challenges, including grade control and ore-blending decisions to deliver improved plant performance.

Michael Celona is the plant metallurgist at Kantra Copper's Kanmantoo Copper Mine. His experience has been varied over the past eight years in the mining industry, initially doing metallurgical test work across a range of commodities, before moving into plant operations. He spent 5 years with the Mount Isa Mines Copper Concentrator across varying roles, including through the transition for mine closure in 2025. He was also involved heavily in the AusIMM branch during his time in North West Queensland, and was recognised with the AusIMM Metallurgical Society Award for Excellence in 2024. His current role with Kantra, since 2025, is focussed on identifying opportunities and optimising plant operations after the restart of Kanmantoo Copper Mine in 2024.

PhD in mineral processing with emphasis in characterization, surface chemistry, flotation and tailings treatment. Former researcher and process development specialist on for Vale Institute of Technology, creating innovative projects in partnership with several universities, research centers and Vale operations. Currently dedicated to Clariant’s Tailings Management Program to design specific technology and chemical solutions for tailings flotation, magnetic separation, dewatering and rheology modification.

Oliver Davies is the Managing Director of Sky Metals Limited, an ASX-listed company focused on critical mineral projects in New South Wales. He joined Sky Metals in 2019 as a geologist, progressing through roles as Exploration Manager and CEO before being appointed Managing Director in September 2024. Mr Davies brings extensive experience in mineral exploration and operations, having previously held key roles at Evolution Mining and Alkane Resources across NSW and Queensland. His work has contributed to several significant discoveries, including the expansion of the Lake Cowal gold resource and regional successes at Tomingley and Boda.

Matthew Pupazzoni is a Business Development Metallurgist with 20 years of experience in the mining and mineral processing industry. He has extensive international experience across mining operations and projects throughout North and South America and Australia, with a strong background in metallurgical testing, flotation, process optimisation and commercialisation of mineral processing technologies. Matthew has held senior technical and operational roles and has worked closely with mining companies, metallurgical laboratories and processing operations to develop practical solutions that improve mineral recovery, concentrate grade and overall plant performance. His expertise spans flotation chemistry, reagent selection, process optimisation and the implementation of innovative technologies across a range of mineral processing applications.

Reg has built a distinguished career in metallurgy and gold mining over the past 25+ years. After studying Chemistry and Extractive Metallurgy at Murdoch University, he began his journey at Telfer Gold Mine in 1997. Reg has since held senior roles across multiple Australian gold operations and now serves as Principal Specialist Metallurgy at Gold Fields, supporting both Australian and International sites. He plays a key role in transferring successful practices from Australia to global operations, driving consistency and innovation across the business. A strong advocate for mentoring and practical training, Reg combines deep technical expertise with a passion for continuous improvement. Known for his approachable leadership style and trademark question, “What’s the worst that could happen?”, he continues to inspire teams and enhance operational performance.
