Speaker
Mr Junlin Qu
PhD Student
The University of Adelaide
A Mathematical Model for Real-Time Ore Flow Optimisation from Uncertain Resources to Run-of-mine Stockpiles and Processing Plant
10:35 AM - 10:55 AMBiography
Junlin is a PhD candidate in Mining Engineering at the University of Adelaide. His research focuses on integrating real-time ore tracking with dynamic production scheduling optimisation in mining operations, with a strong emphasis on optimising the entire mining value chain. This innovative research is part of the ARC Training Centre for Integrated Operations for Complex Resources.
Junlin has two years of practical experience as a mining engineer at a dolomite open-pit mine, where he worked on optimising mining operations and production parameter design. This hands-on experience deepened his understanding of mine planning and operational efficiency. During his Master's studies, Junlin specialised in mine planning and parameter optimisation, further honing his expertise in production strategies and technological solutions for mining challenges. Outside of research, Junlin enjoys basketball, fitness, swimming, and music.

Mrs Gloria Asamoah
Phd Candidate
UniSA
Application of causal machine learning in mitigating ore dilution for maximum return in mining
11:35 AM - 11:55 AMBiography
Gloria is a PhD candidate who has worked in the mining industry for over 9 yrs and has in-depth knowledge of and hands-on experience in surface mine planning and operations, and underground mine operations. She has expertise in using specialised software for mine scheduling, mine design, mine optimisation, and mine operations (drill and blast, load and haul, and dispatch). Gloria has skills in business improvement, project evaluation, economic analysis of mine design, mine safety, and reporting. She is a great team player and highly goal-oriented. Gloria has expanded her metallurgical knowledge by working with a mineral processing consulting firm, giving her greater understanding of whole plant planning, metal extraction and optimisation for higher returns.
