Biography

Tony is an experienced engineer and executive, who worked in the resources sector for over 30 years, with over 25 professional years of expertise in the full life cycle of mineral processing, extraction, refine and complex chemical projects, from concepts development, test work, engineering design, construction, commissioning, ramp up to steady production operations. Tony is passionate about developing innovative and sustainable solutions for critical minerals and energy challenges and facilitating industry-academia collaboration and knowledge transfer.

Biography

Ben Cabanas is the APJ Technology Director at AWS, leading Solutions Architects and Customer Solutions Managers to enable digital transformation, new customer experiences, and business innovation outcomes for customers. He joined Amazon in 2017 and led the AWS Solutions Architecture team in Asia-Pacific and Japan until August 2023. Prior to joining Amazon, Ben spent 15 years at General Electric as a CTO and VP of Software Engineering, where he was responsible for leading GE’s software engineering teams to develop and deploy solutions that maximised productivity for all GE businesses. Ben has led Big Data, Analytics, and machine learning initiatives throughout his career, including GE’s industrial IoT and analytics platform (Predix) and AWS’ APAC Machine Learning Solutions Labs. He is an advisor on ML/AI solutions and emerging trends, and Ben and his team support thousands of businesses on their adoption of Generative AI.

Biography

Gustavo Pilger is a Mining Engineer and Geostatistician with over 20 years of experience in the global mining industry. He has a strong background in mineral resource modelling and uncertainty analysis, holding a PhD and MSc in Geostatistics, along with a specialization in Mining Geostatistics from the Paris School of Mines. Gustavo has worked with large mining corporations and consulting organizations across a wide range of commodities and geographies, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. He also has extensive experience in all aspects of technology development for the mining industry. As Head of GEOVIA R&D at Dassault Systèmes, Gustavo leads the strategic definition and development of the GEOVIA portfolio. He provides a strategic vision for modelling and simulating the planet responsibly. Working with leadership teams across Dassault Systèmes, he helps define transformational technologies that improve predictability, efficiency, safety, and sustainability—ultimately maximizing shareholder value.
