Biography

Mikaela Tannert is a Geology graduate from The University of Western Australia. She is currently completing her Honours in Earth Sciences, on the metamorphism and mineralisation history of the Pogo gold deposit in Alaska. She is pursuing a research-focused career with a particular interest in metamorphic petrology and the intersection of structural and geochemical aspects within economic geology. Her professional experience encompasses roles in both gold and copper mining and metallurgy in Peru, with a focus on spectral analysis and the Andean agricultural sector. Additionally, she offers a unique interdisciplinary perspective, stemming from her background in agricultural and zootechnical sciences, in which she conducts work in the Peruvian Andes focusing on agrominerals and land rehabilitation strategies to support alpaca farming communities. She is enthusiastic and committed to building a career in academia, advancing research, and fostering collaboration between geology, mining, and agricultural sciences, while inspiring and mentoring the next generation of geologists.

Lok Yan Lam is a Specialist in Supply Chain Planning at BHP, with a background in asset planning and a focus on copper. She has played a key role in optimising planning processes to improve operational efficiency and sustainability. Working closely with senior leadership, she has led the integration of copper supply chain strategies across the business. Lok Yan holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Adelaide, bringing a strong foundation in mineral processing to her supply chain expertise. Her work spans strategic initiatives across the value chain, driving cross-functional collaboration to enhance resilience and performance. An active member of industry associations, Lok Yan regularly participates in sector events to stay ahead of emerging trends and technologies. Her commitment to continuous improvement and innovation has earned her recognition as a rising leader in the resources sector.
