Dr. Jacqui Coombes, MD SageAbility, Chair of Mining3, NED ICRAR, and a distinguished leader in the minerals industry. With expertise in geostatistics and mineral resource modelling, she has reinvigorated organisations and led innovative strategies as the former CEO of Amira Global. Dr. Coombes also serves on an investment review committee and several advisory boards. Known for her constructive insights and contributions, mentorship of over 2000 resource geologists, and publication of two best-selling books, Dr. Coombes is a respected and influential figure in our industry.

Johann enjoys working with technology and geology, and seeing how the new can apply to the old. Johann co-founded DeepLime, exploring the space of data science in geology, and accompanying resource companies in their digital transition. He has worked on poly-metallic, coal and lateritic/bauxite ore bodies from a variety of angles, including lab assay data validation, automated sample classification, implicit modelling, resource estimation, grade control processes, dig limit optimisation, and pit optimisation , all for the automation and standardisation of data and modelling processes.

Arja Jewbali is the Head of Global Resource Management at Newmont Corporation, responsible for overseeing resource models across Newmont’s worldwide operations and projects. She holds a Ph.D. in Geostatistics from the University of Queensland and a Master’s degree from the University of Nevada, Reno. With close to 20 years of experience in geostatistical applications for resource modeling in gold, base metals, and iron ore, Arja is a seasoned expert in her field. Before joining Newmont in 2011, she worked with Rio Tinto Iron Ore, where she developed resource models for iron ore deposits. Her professional interests include advancing innovative geostatistical techniques to improve the quantification of resource uncertainty.
