Biography

Dr Wedin is a battery raw materials industry executive, with an international career spanning four continents and multiple commodities. Dr Wedin founded the Project in Germany and, as CEO from 2019 to 2023, was instrumental in driving Vulcan Group's growth. Dr Wedin was previously Executive Director of successful ASX-listed Exore Resources Ltd (ASX: ERX), where he defined and developed the Lynas Find Lithium Project, subsequently bought by Pilbara Minerals to become part of its Pilgangoora Lithium Project, now in production (ASX: PLS). Dr Wedin has a PhD and BSc (Hons) in Geology and Mineral Exploration, and an MBA in Renewable Energy. He is a Fellow of the Geological Society, London, and a member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.

Biography

Leigh Slomp is the General Manager Technical Services - Lithium at Rio Tinto. Leigh is a senior resources industry professional and executive with 25 years operational and management experience across several commodities and technical disciplines. In his previous role as Chief Advisor Professional Standards at the AusIMM, he was responsible for the Institutes strategy and leadership of industry codes and standards, policy and advocacy, and government relations. Prior to that Leigh was Global Manager Resources and Exploration for ArcelorMittal Mining in London, where he oversaw the company’s resource and reserve strategy and reporting across more than 25 mines globally. While in London he was the inaugural AusIMM International Representative and chair of the AusIMM UK Committee. Mr Slomp is a Chartered Professional in the Management discipline, and he is Fellow of both the AusIMM and the Geological Society of London.

Biography

Charlie is the CEO of ElectraLith which is developing the next generation of lithium extraction and refining technologies. Backed by Rio Tinto, Chevron, Marathon Petroleum, In-Q-Tel (CIA-backed fund), Vista Energy, IP Group, Main Sequence, Fathom Fund, Hostplus, Breakthrough Victoria and Monash University, ElectraLith is based in Melbourne and has offices in the United States. Charlie began his business career investment banking at Morgan Stanley in New York. He later served as Group Vice President of Incitec Pivot and as CFO of lithium miner Kidman Resources prior to its acquisition by Wesfarmers. He is currently a Senior Advisor to India-based lithium battery recycler Lohum. Charlie served six years as a Naval Officer in surface warfare and special forces, and was the youngest officer ever to be appointed Administrative Aide to the Secretary of the Navy in the Pentagon. Charlie is a graduate of the US Naval Academy and has an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Biography

Ryan is Chief Operating Officer at Liontown Resources, responsible for leading the delivery of the Kathleen Valley Lithium Operation. He brings over 20 years of experience working with the world’s largest mining companies in engineering, investment evaluation, project delivery and general management roles, with a strong focus on lithium and downstream processing. Prior to joining Liontown, Ryan was CEO of Covalent Lithium, where he oversaw the development of the Mt Holland lithium project, including the construction of a refinery designed to produce battery-grade lithium hydroxide. His background includes senior operational leadership at CSBP, managing large-scale ammonium nitrate and ammonia production facilities, and earlier engineering and project roles supporting complex processing operations. Ryan holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) from UWA, a Master of Applied Finance and Investment from FINSIA, is a CFA® charterholder, and a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.

Biography

Dr Neville Plint has a global reputation in the mining sector and has broad demonstrated experience in the mining and resource industry. His career has focused on delivering improved operational performance on mining sites by developing and implementing new technologies, whilst establishing a global network of research professionals in academic institutes, mining companies and research organisations. Neville has extensive leadership experience and a deep understanding of the mining sector. Dr. Plint was the Institute Director, Sustainable Minerals Institute (SMI), at The University of Queensland. Whilst at Anglo American, Neville held multiple leadership roles including Head of Business Improvement Projects, and Head of Research and Development. Dr. Plint also held positions as board member and Director of Mining3; Managing Director of JKTech Pty Ltd and a member of UQ’s University Senior Management Group (USMG).
