Biography

Russell is a professionally registered Mechanical Engineer with a Masters degree in Engineering. He currently leads the BBE Consulting Team in South Africa and actively participates in several ventilation and cooling studies, ranging from Concept Level to Implementation. He specializes in refrigeration and air-cooling systems and strategies. Russell has been immersed in this field since he began his career in 1999. He has specialist knowledge of refrigeration systems and is experienced in various chilled water solutions.

Biography

Dr. Purushotham Tukkaraja is a Professor of Mining Engineering and the Director of the South Dakota MSHA State Grants Program at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology. He specializes in underground ventilation and air conditioning, mine safety and health, rock fragmentation, and bulk materials handling. He is an MSHA-approved mine safety and health instructor for surface and underground mines, an ABET Program Evaluator (PEV), and a Qualified Professional (QP) Member of the Mining and Metallurgical Society of America (MMSA). He received the SME Health & Safety Research & Educational Excellence Award in 2023. He organized the North American Mine Ventilation Symposium in 2021 and 2023. He serves on the SME’s Underground Ventilation Committee (UVC) Executive Board. He supervised and graduated several students with expertise in mine ventilation. He is also the advisor for the South Dakota Mines student chapter of the International Society of Explosives Engineers (ISEE). He serves as an Associate Editor, Editorial Board Member, and Reviewer for several Mining Engineering Journals. He was the President of the Black Hills Chapter of ISEE. He is an active member of SME, MMSA, BHISEE, and ISEE.

Biography

Joeline is a Principal Engineer with more than 16 years of experience as a mechanical engineer, 14 of which as a consultant in mine ventilation, cooling, underground environmental control, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Joeline transferred from BBE Consulting South Africa in 2019 to join the BBE Consulting Australasia team and has since been appointed Engineering Manager and registered as a Chartered Engineer with Engineers Australia. She is an experienced user of ventilation simulation software packages, such as VUMA and Ventsim™. She has completed extensive studies, from concept to detailed engineering level of design and life-of-mine studies, for various ventilation, cooling, and refrigeration systems in mines worldwide. Joeline has the experience and confidence to fill the role of Lead Engineer, Project Manager or being part of a multi-disciplinary team in any type of project, with extensive experience in ventilation, cooling, and heating planning for various mining methods and commodities. Joeline is the CFD specialist for the BBE Consulting Group and has conducted numerous CFD analysis studies for clients around the globe.
