Biography

Bruce has been involved with the ventilation of mines for more than fifty years commencing with Allan Wallis at the CSIRO Division of Mechanical Engineering carrying out research under funding from AMIRA, the Australian Mining Industry Research Association. During this period, he was involved with the acceptance testing of the largest primary ventilation fans in Australia including Mount Isa and Broken Hill. This was followed by thirty years with Howden in Australia and the UK in various roles from research and development engineer to managing director. His last position was Technical Director Howden Asia Pacific responsible for establishing engineering in Howden China. Bruce studied at the University of Tasmania graduating with an honours degree in mechanical engineering followed by postgraduate studies funded by the Department of Defence Aeronautical Research Laboratories on the compressor of the Rolls Royce Avon jet engine. He currently consults to the mining industry providing advice on fans, fan installation and environmental acoustics.

Biography

Alex de Andrade is a Mechanical Engineer who joined Grydale in 2023 as their CEO. Alex has a 25 year proven track record with global OEM manufacturing companies. An inventor by nature and multiple patent holder, he enjoys publishing technical papers and contributing to technical standards and handbooks. As an industry fellow and associate professor with the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), he enjoys giving back to the community by mentoring STEM and additive manufacturing students in their career paths.

Biography

Dr Hetang Wang, is currently a full Professor of China University of Mining and Technology, Director of the Institute of Ventilation, Fire Prevention and Underground Space Safety, and Deputy Secretary General of Mine Ventilation Committee of China Mine Safety Society. He has long been engaged in the research of mine ventilation and environmental engineering, and has presided over 5 national projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and 8 projects commissioned by mining enterprises. He has published more than 90 papers in main journals in the field of mine ventilation and safety,and his papers have been cited more than 2000 times in Web of Science. He has also published 2 monographs, and has been granted 45 invention patents. The research achievements have been widely applied in more than ten mining areas in China.
