Chris Jackson is a mining engineer with 25 years of experience in underground mining, ventilation, and water management. During this time Chris has held a variety of operational and technical roles, in numerous operations and specialises in practical and achievable ventilation designs and outcomes in many different work environments. Chris has worked in a number of mines across Australia, spending extensive time at the challenging Mount Isa Mines operations where he managed ventilation and construction teams. During time spent at Peak and Rosebery Mine in Tasmania, Chris expanded his experience into services, water supply and dewatering. Chris designed and implemented ventilation on demand (VOD) at Peak mine in central NSW ensuring existing Primary fan and refrigeration installations would continue to facilitate the current mine schedule until planned LOM without the need to increase surface primary fan or refrigeration installations. Most recently Chris has worked as a Ventilation consultant for Howden Ventsim, this role is diverse as it is interesting, roles and responsibilities include national and international Greenfield to Brownfield design and reviews, model repairs and reviews, VentSim and PumpSim training, Ventilation On Demand sales and implementation to name a few.

Dr. De Souza holds B.Sc., M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Mining Engineering. He is an internationally experienced and recognized professional, with extensive experience in ventilation projects which pose unique challenges, including potash mines, cold regions, uranium mines and nuclear waste repositories. He has produced close to 600 publications, including over 380 consulting related technical reports.
He is Founder and President of AirFinders Inc., a consulting company providing services in mine ventilation to hard-rock and soft-rock mines across the world. AirFinders customer base includes some of the largest international mining companies in the world, including BHP, Rio Tinto, Newmont, Alamos Gold, Eldorado Gold, Barrick, Nutrien, Mosaic, and Cameco. This year AirFinders is celebrating 36 Years of Mining and Ventilation Services Excellence.
