Abstract

Biography

As the Project Lead for the FBI CRC Trusted Supply Chain (TSC) project and a post-doctoral research fellow at the John de Laeter Centre, Curtin University, I have a proven track record of managing complex proposals and projects, building and leading multi-disciplinary teams, and achieving successful research project outcomes. I am a purposeful and enthusiastic professional with excellent communication, engagement, and negotiation skills, coupled with a keen ability to analyze data and provide strategic insights to establish committed stakeholder partnerships. My creative and initiative-driven approach has resulted in the creation of a new commercial intellectual property and unforeseen research outcomes. I have actively collaborated in global supply chain traceability initiatives, such as the UN/CEFACT, and contributed to a value-gaining Australian effort in the battery and critical raw materials sectors.

Biography

Diane is currently an Executive Consultant in the Advisory arm of international mining consultancy RPMGlobal. As an executive consultant with RPMGlobal, she is involved in Environmental and Social due diligence work globally for lending agencies and mining companies seeking to finance projects. Her mining expertise covers environmental, social performance and government relations in the mining industry after commencing her career in the Commonwealth and WA public sectors. She has extensive global experience across greenfields and brownfields mining and processing operations covering a range of commodities. Diane is also currently undertaking a PhD at the University of Queensland in the Centre for Social Responsibility in Mining exploring junior mining companies understanding of social responsibility.

Biography

Dr. Abdul Hannan Asif is a Chemical Engineer and currently engaged in Research and Development, seeking innovative solutions for the Circular Economy. He completed his PhD at Edith Cowan University in 2023 and is now working as a research associate at The University of Western Australia, focusing on extracting critical minerals from waste streams. Working at the intersection of chemical engineering and material science, Dr. Asif has a strong background in the development of novel materials for environmental remediation and other applications. Currently, he is applying his knowledge to the process development for the sustainable recovery of critical minerals from Australian mining and processing facilities. As a young engineering scientist, he has authored more than 20 publications, showcasing his dedication to advancing knowledge in his field. His work strategically tackles environmental challenges while also opening up economic prospects. His dedication to innovation highlights his pivotal role in promoting sustainable development, underlining his commitment to creating a better world for future generations.

Balancing Act: Navigating Indonesia’s Nickel Industry Strategic Development Amid Decarbonisation Efforts

Biography

Sofia, a Materials Engineer with a PhD, plays a pivotal role in the ANZ Hydrogen and CCUS team at DNV. Her doctoral research focused on mitigating hydrogen embrittlement within the oil and gas sector. Before transitioning to the renewable field, Sofia worked as a materials engineer, specializing in failure analysis related to hydrogen embrittlement. With 2 years of experience in Energy Transition Advisory, Sofia has spearheaded groundbreaking strategic studies for challenging sectors. Her work includes decarbonization roadmaps for critical metals, green steel, large-scale green hydrogen and ammonia production and CCUS. Sofia adeptly applies her academic knowledge to devise comprehensive solutions for emerging and nascent technologies.

Biography

Mark Noppé is a geoscientist with extensive (+35 years) mining industry and geoscience consulting experience in resource project development and effective operational performance. Prior to joining The University in late 2022 Mark was the MD of SRK Consulting Australasia and group chair of the SRK global consulting group. He has worked on, reviewed and advised across a variety of project development stages and commodities in a range of geological, mining, and geographical settings. He is an AusIMM director (2021–2023) and mentors across a variety of national and international programs.
