Biography

Lucy McClean is a passionate advocate and leader in the minerals industry and has been recognised internationally as one of the ‘100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining’. Lucy has had extensive experience in the minerals industry, first starting in the industry over 25 years ago in an unlisted exploration company. Over her career she has been a pioneer in ESG, has had extensive experience in advocacy and working with government and industry across the sector. Lucy is a strong supporter of women in mining, currently holding the honorary position of Chair for Women in Mining and Resources Australia (WIMARA) and Immediate Past Chair of Women in Mining NSW and in 2023 won both state and national awards for her championship of inclusion and diversity.

Biography

Liz Mackinlay is a global strategist with local community at the forefront of her mind and work. Having grown up in regional Queensland, she's spent 30 years working in more than 80 countries in international, indigenous and community development in roles including CEO of Australian Doctors International and global head of strategy for World Vision. In her current role as CEO of Australian Business Volunteers, Liz has brought the full force of her experience to life by implementing innovative new approaches to community-led recovery following the 2019-20 Black Summer bushfires in NSW and Victoria and designing impactful corporate community business collaboration in the Pacific. She’s driven to facilitate radical collaboration between government, non-profit, corporate, academia, the private sector and an army of volunteers to ensure our communities are prepared for a more resilient future.

Future skills and workforce evolution: Training and skills development for Mining Operation Engineer and D&B Engineer in Surface Mineral Mine PT IMK

Biography

Heru is a mining engineer with more than seventeen years of mining experience. His current role is junior mining manager with mining operation department, PT Indo Muro Kencana (PT IMK), a surface gold & silver mine, Murung Raya, Central Kalimantan province, Indonesia. He is responsible for implementing safety in mining operations, mining strategies, mining operation management and also safe and efficient blasting practices that will support PT IMK objective to increase safety and achieve good mining performance. His previous roles were a Sr. drill & blast superintendent (surface gold & silver mine) and a drill & blast superintendent (surface coal mining). Heru studied mining engineering in Trisakti University (Jakarta, Indonesia) and has a master’s degree in mining engineering (mining geomechanics) from UNSW (University of New South Wales), Sydney, Australia. In his spare time, Heru teaches Drill & Blast courses for mining engineering students in Indonesia and plays the drums in a band (Silver Elephant band a.k.a Golden Muro band).

Biography

Jan Johansson is Professor in Human Work Sciences at Luleå University of Technology. Johansson has been active in the European project Innovative Technologies and Concepts for the Intelligent Deep Mine of the Future (I2mine) and in Sustainable Intelligent Mining Systems (SIMS). He is now participating in a new EU project Next Generation carbon Neutral pilots for Smart Intelligent Mining Systems (NextGen-SIMS). Johansson's role in all these projects is to take care of issues that affect ergonomics in a broader perspective, which he calls Attractive workplaces. Johansson is also one of the authors of the book Designing Ergonomic, Safe, and Attractive Mining Workplaces published by Taylor & Francis.

Biography

Sarah is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and currently serves a Non-Executive Director of two organisations, as well as serving as a member of an audit, finance and risk sub-committee. Sarah has been accountable for developing and implementing strategies and business operating plans to improve performance in global corporations and SMEs. With a diverse background spanning the not-for-profit, corporate, and Federal Government sectors, Sarah has experience in policy application, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement. More recently Sarah has accepted professional roles mentoring emerging and mid-career executives. Sarah was the founding CEO of CEEC International, which grew to become a global organisation under her leadership. She has a Graduate Diploma of Management (Mktg).

Biography

Sandra Nowosad, M.Sc.: studied mining engineering at Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru in Lima Peru, and later a Masters in Mining Engineering at Clausthal University of Technology (CUT). Since 2019 she works as research assistant at CUT, in the field of mining technologies and automation focused on mines of the future. Currently she is program advisor and lecturer at CUT as well as the Chair of the Education Committee of the Society of Mining Professors (SOMP).
