Sally North is the acting WorkSafe Commissioner, greatly valuing the opportunity to make a difference to the community through WorkSafe’s education, inspections, investigations, legal and regulatory support teams and through collaborating with stakeholders.
Sally has led a WorkSafe directorate including specialist teams on human factors and ergonomics, asbestos, occupational hygiene, plant and engineering and industry groups covering the public sector and related industries, and the retail and service industries. She has also acted as the Deputy WorkSafe Commissioner and is involved in state and national committees and working groups on work health and safety.
Sally has qualifications in chemistry, OSH, occupational hygiene and business administration.

Zara Fisher is Group Manager Health, Safety and Risk at Fortescue.
With nearly three decades’ experience in the mining industry, across Australia and internationally, Zara brings significant operational, financial, strategic and commercial knowledge to her role. Her experience spans the aluminium, copper, energy; including coal and uranium and iron ore commodities.
From 2019 to 2023, she held the role of Group Manager, Asset Management and Utilities, and prior to joining Fortescue Zara was Vice President, Health, Safety and Environment at Rio Tinto Iron Ore.
Zara holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and a Masters of Applied Science. She is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is a Director of the Activ Foundation. Previously she was a Director at Energy Resources of Australia Ltd, EPIC Inc and the Utah Clean Cities Coalition.
Zara is supported by her Husband and is a proud Mum to three boys.

Kent has a wealth of experience and a vast understanding of the mining industry since starting his mining journey in 1995. Throughout his mining career, he has held diverse leadership roles spanning various commodities, including iron ore, direct reduced iron, lithium, nickel, tin and tantalum. Kent’s expertise extends to a wide range of processing, encompassing smelting, refining, and bulk commodities processing. He has navigated pivotal positions, serving as Manager for Fixed Plant, Asset Management and Engineering, and Health and Safety, as well as General Manager across multiple Rio Tinto iron ore production sites. Presently, Kent applies his versatile knowledge as General Manager for Rhodes Ridge and in the Operational Readiness domain.
His dedication to continuous growth within his professional roles is evident through his completion of a Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, and attaining the Site Senior Executive qualification. Kent’s contributions to the industry have been instrumental, marked by recent achievements such as securing the highest Rio Tinto Iron Ore score for Safety Maturity Model, a substantial reduction in on-site incidents, and receiving the Safety Award for Special Commendation for Outstanding Safety Leadership in 2022.
