Stephen Durkin is CEO of AusIMM, the peak body and trusted voice for professionals working in the resources sector. Before joining AusIMM, Stephen was CEO of Engineers Australia (EA) for five years. Stephen's leadership focuses on building high performance organisations by fostering an innovative culture and supporting teams to collaborate and thrive. At both AusIMM and EA, Stephen has led transformations of these long-standing associations to be more contemporary and financially sustainable, with a stronger external brand.
Prior to leading professional associations, Stephen was at National Australia Bank for 15 years in a number of senior executive roles including as State Manager, Retail Bank NSW/ACT. He holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours). Stephen has extensive experience in business and association management, and possesses highly regarded skills in government, media and community relations.

Tania Constable PSM, joined the Minerals Council of Australia in July 2018 where she is proud to promote and advocate for a strong, vibrant and innovative minerals industry in Australia.
Prior to this, Tania was Chief Executive Officer of the CO2CRC (Collaborative Research Centre for Greenhouse Gas Technologies) a leading global research organisation testing carbon capture and storage low emission technologies in Australia.
Tania previously worked as chief adviser in the Personal and Retirement Income Division of Treasury, working on tax-related matters and has had a long association with resources and energy, holding various senior executive roles in the Australian Government. Tania had responsibility for policy advice to the Minister for Industry on oil and gas regulation, exploration and development, and sustainable mining activities.
During this time Ms Constable also had the privilege of being the Australian Joint Commissioner and Sunrise Commissioner for Australia and Timor Leste leading joint activities on the development of the Joint Petroleum Development Area and Greater Sunrise Project.
She was awarded the Public Service Medal in 2014 for outstanding public service in the development of Australia’s liquefied natural gas and other resource and energy industries.

Keynote | The unplanned industrial transformation away from fossil fuels

Simon is the Associate Professor of Geometallurgy at the Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) in KTR, the Circular Economy Solutions Unit. Basic degree Bach App. Sc in Physics and Geology, Phd in Mining Engineering from JKMRC University of Queensland. Work experience 18 years in the Australian mining industry in research and development, 12 months at Ausenco in the private sector, 3 years in Belgium at the University of Liege researching Circular Economy and industrial recycling. Work experience in Finland has been at GTK has been in the Minerals Intelligence in the MTR unit, before joining the KTR. Mineral processing and geometallurgy being developed.
Long term objectives include the development and transformation of the Circular Economy, into a more practical system for the industrial ecosystem to navigate the twin challenges of the scarcity of technology minerals and the transitioning away from fossil fuels.

Leigh is a senior resources industry professional with over 23 years of operational and management experience, including most recently as Global Manager Resources and Exploration for ArcelorMittal Mining in London, where he also inaugurated and chaired the AusIMM UK Committee. Prior to that, he was the Geology Manager at Atlas Iron in Western Australia, where he also worked in several senior leadership roles over a period of eight years.
Mr Slomp spent much of his early career in various roles across the WA mining
industry, including with BHP Iron Ore in the Pilbara, at the Greenbushes Tin-Tantalum mine and the Cawse Nickel Laterite Project in Kalgoorlie.
Mr Slomp is a Fellow of both the AusIMM and the Geological Society of London.
