Biography

Claudia is an experienced Senior Mining Engineer who has experience in Australia and Germany in underground and open cut mine design and planning. Throughout her career, as a Mining Engineer, Claudia has worked in operations based engineering roles. This has exposed her to all stages of the mining cycle from order of magnitude and feasibility planning through top project execution, operations and mine closure planning. Through her experience at Northparkes Mines and the Rio Tinto Block Cave Knowledge Centre, Claudia has gained a unique skill set as a caving engineer experienced in both block caving and sublevel caving operations with skills ranging from cave modelling and construction to operations & rehabilitation as well as air blast risk management systems.

Biography

Throughout her experience, Elyse has fostered a deep curiosity for the resource sector. She has learnt how invaluable it is and how important it is for us to maintain what we do but in a far more sustainable practise. She has been exceptionally busy for the past seven years; heavily involved with AusIMM, initially in the capacity of the AusIMM Adelaide Student Chapter and now the AusIMM New Professionals Network, and currently employed in the Social Performance Team at Oz Minerals Carrapateena, empowering local communities to realise their potential and to help create sustainable opportunities.

Biography

Elora is an Honours in Earth Science student with a Bachelor of Geology at James Cook University in Townsville. She has been involved in the AusIMM since the beginning of 2021 when the North Queensland Student Chapter made its debut. She is now the president of the chapter and a member of the North Queensland Branch, as well as a Science student mentor and ambassador for JCU. Elora currently works as a Graduate Consultant at Alluvium with a focus on producing sustainable surface water management solutions for both resources and environmental management industries. Her honors project will focus on developing best practice groundwater sampling methods and techniques for North Queensland.

Biography

Dylan is a second-year student studying Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering at Curtin University. His passion for mining and minerals processing led him to apply for vacation work at BHP's Mount Keith Nickel Plant during his summer break. This experience allowed Dylan to gain hands-on experience in the field, including operating and maintaining equipment, analyzing process data, and participating in plant inspections. Apart from his academic and professional endeavours, Dylan is an active member of the WASM Wallabies Club, a team that competes in the annual National and International Mining Games. As a part of the team, Dylan has participated in various mining-related challenges, such as drilling, surveying, and hand steeling. He enjoys the camaraderie and sense of community that the club provides, as well as the opportunity to put his skills and knowledge to the test in a competitive environment. Overall, Dylan is a driven and dedicated student with a keen interest in mining and minerals processing. His vacation work experience and involvement in the WASM Wallabies Club have allowed him to gain valuable practical experience and develop key skills that will serve him well in his future career.

'Sophia Minter is a 2nd year student at the University of Tasmania, where she studies Marine and Antarctic Science, majoring in Geology and Marine Biology. She has a keen interest in Antarctic Geology and sustainable mining. Sophia has been a member of Hobart's AusIMM student chapter since the beginning of her studies, and wishes to enhance her involvement. Overall, Sophia is a dedicated and enthusiastic student with aspirations to work in the mining industry in the future.
