Biography

René is the Managing Director at RSC and the 2023 Mineral Resource Estimation Conference chair. He holds a master’s degree in Structural Geology and Tectonics, and specialises in resource development for gold, industrial minerals, seabed mineralisation, REE and base metals, with a strong skill set in grade control, reconciliation, QA/QC and sampling. He is a Chartered Professional and Fellow with the AusIMM, a Registered Professional Geologist with the AIG, and has published papers and provided training on sampling, QA/QC and resource estimation.

Biography

Dr Jacqui Coombes is Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Amira Global. Amira Global is a global, member-based, not-for-profit organisation that provides platforms for thought leadership; builds collaborations to address key R&D and Innovation breakthroughs; and develops pathways to enable those outcomes to be delivered in industry. Jacqui is a minerals industry thought leader with experience across the mine value chain, commodities, and across the globe. Jacqui’s passion for governance frameworks and accelerating change in society is augmented by her skill in building collaboration across the industry, government and academia; her experience in developing capability of businesses and people; and her deep commitment to fundamental science and integrity of data. Jacqui holds a Bachelor of Science degree (double major: Statistics and Mathematics); a Masters degree in Statistics; a Masters degree in Resources and Commercial Law; a PhD in statistical reasoning and competency development; and a PHD focus competency development in mineral resource estimation. Jacqui is a published author of two books: The Art and Science of Resource Estimation - a pracitcal guide for geologists and engineers; and I'd Like to Be OK with MIK, UC? Jacqui is passionate about mentoring and training and makes a notable contribution to preparing the next generation of global resource professional for a career in the minerals industry.

Biography

With a career that began in 1987 and has taken him around the world, Scott has extensive experience, not only as a consultant, but in a host of senior technical management roles within the mining industry. His expertise ranges from mine geology, grade control and reconciliation, to mine planning and geotechnical engineering, including operational and managerial experience in silver, lead, zinc, copper, tin, gold and nickel in an equally broad range of geological and mining environments. Renowned for his highly systematic approach to mine planning, mining geology, strategic management and improving business performance, Scott is also a first-class trainer and mentor, and has authored a number of touchstone publications.

Biography

Mike has over 35 years mining industry experience in roles that have varied from mine operations to regional exploration and mineral resource estimation. He has worked on projects throughout Australia, Africa and North America for many commodities in varied geological environments. Mike has worked on projects for nickel (sulphide and laterite), many types of gold systems, copper, iron ore (hematite and magnetite), uranium, tin, polymetallic VMS deposits, and numerous specialty metals. He is very interested in geological data gathering and interpretation, and in mineral resource estimates that are practical, robust and auditable. Mike has sound technical expertise in resource estimation and grade control systems for both open-cut and underground, has management experience at operating mines and is an expert user of Datamine, Isatis and Leapfrog software.

Biography

Alessandro is a geologist with MSc qualifications in geostatistics, resource evaluation and metallogeny. He has more than 21 years’ international experience in the mining industry working in operations and projects in Americas Continent (Brazil, Argentina, USA, Chile, Canada, Colombia, Peru) in a wide range of geological environments and deposit types including Archean Lode Sulphides, Archean Conglomerates, Epithermal Veins, Porphyritic, Intrusion Related, Volcanic Associated, BIF Hosted with Sulphides and Quartz Alteration. His skills are in geological modelling, resource evaluation for Open Pit and Underground mines, resources and reserves audit, due diligence and business development, public reporting, quantitative risk assessment using geostatistical methods, to support mine geology, reconciliation, project management, statutory and competent persons’ reporting, and mining studies. Alessandro Silva has experience as a Competent/Qualified Person Gold, Silver and Copper supporting executive decisions for projects, operations, and business development initiatives.
