Chris is the General Manager – Sustainability for the Minerals Council of Australia. He has 25 years’ experience working in geoscientific, environmental and sustainability policy and practice in the public and private sectors both in Australia and overseas.
Chris leads key initiatives supporting the minerals industry’s environmental, social and governance performance, including implementation of the Towards Sustainable Mining system in Australia. In 2018, Chris worked with the International Council on Mining and Metals, focussing on global water issues.
Prior to his role at the Minerals Council, Chris was Manager, Major Projects for the Queensland Government’s abandoned mines program, managing the rehabilitation program for the Mount Morgan legacy site and abandoned working across breadth of Queensland. Chris has also worked as an environmental consultant and hydrogeologist in both Australia and the United Kingdom.

His strategy and leadership experience covers; feasibility studies, mineral asset audits and evaluations, independent technical reports, techno-economic studies, capital raising, merger and acquisitions, managing joint ventures, local and international stock exchange compliance, business development and investor/ stakeholder relations.
Alex’s industry experience includes operational (underground and open pit), technical, consulting and corporate within the metalliferous resources sector, covering precious metals, base metals and bulk commodities.

Greg has worked in the area of soil erosion and sediment transport with a focus on post-mining landscape assessment and mining rehabilitation for over 25 years. He has particular expertise in the use of computer based landscape evolution models for both current and proposed landscape assessment in particular SIBERIA and CAESAR models. He has worked across a wide range of projects, sites and climates both here in Australia and internationally for government agencies, mining companies as well as consultancy firms. He has published over 100 research papers as well as numerous conference papers and industry research reports.

Dimuth Welivitiya received the B.Sc. degree (with 1st class honors) in Earth Resources Engineering with a minor in remote sensing(RS) and Geographic information systems (GIS) from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, in 2009 and the PhD degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Newcastle, Australia, in 2017.
In 2009, he was with the Department of Earth Resources Engineering at University of Moratuwa as a Research and Teaching Assistant. From 2009 to 2010 and again from 2012 to 2013 he was with Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Modern Technologies, Sri Lanka as a Research Engineer. In 2011 he also followed graduate courses in Space and Planetary Science at The University of Arkansas, USA where he worked as a Research Assistant.
He is currently a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Newcastle, Australia. His research interests include Landform evolution modelling, Pedogenesis modelling, Geomorphology, Environmental engineering/management and environmental quality analysis, Remote sensing and geographical information systems, Disaster management and risk analysis, Planetary science.

Bob Boshrouyeh is an environmental engineer with Okane Consultants based in Brisbane, Australia. He is an expert environmental scientist and engineer with a demonstrated history of working in different resource sectors globally. Bob holds his Ph.D. in Tailings Management from the University of Queensland. He is experienced in tailings treatment and dewatering processes to create materials for optimum rehabilitation purposes. Bob’s academic and industrial background combination provides sustainable solutions for the different challenges in the industry. Prior to working with Okane Consultants, Bob has over eight years of experience as a researcher and engineer in the field of environmental engineering. Involved in different mining projects focusing on sustainable management of mine tailings and seeking for opportunities to reprocess mining waste in a wide range of other applications.
