This workshop will cover at a “warts and all” level the geotechnical investigation of Tailings Dams using up-to-date in situ methods. Strengths and weaknesses of the various techniques will be discussed, along with developments that have occurred or are in progress to help reduce weaknesses. The workshop will not only be a “how to do it properly” exercise but will include an important session on determination of important materials’ geotechnical properties from the investigation works.
