Biography

Jayde Webb is a mining engineer with over 20 years of global experience in the mining sector. Jayde has held a variety of senior technical, operations and management roles with both contractor and owner mining companies. She currently leads the mining technology development function at South32, focused on identifying opportunities for innovation in mining extraction and application of novel technologies to improve safety, productivity and company returns. Prior to this Jayde managed global contracts and tendering processes for a privately owned international contracting company. Jayde has held underground manager roles in Australia and alternate roles in Tanzania. Jayde has gained extensive technical experience across a variety of ore bodies, mining methods and operating structures.

Biography

Belinda has over 30 years of operational, technical planning and leadership experience in underground mining, surface mining and exploration. She has worked across multiple commodities and mining methods for mining houses, consultants and contractors. Belinda has proven experience to deliver transformational change, from concept to execution and review, across process, planning and technology advances. For the past 7 years, she has progressed from key member to leader of the Applications Engineering team at Sandvik, working on projects across APAC, Europe, the USA, and Africa. Graduating from RMIT University with a degree in Survey (Hons) in 1992, Belinda also holds a Graduate Diploma in Mining (Engineering) from Federation University, Ballarat (2014) and will complete her Digital MBA with QUT later this year. She holds an Authorised Mine Surveyors Certificate of Competency (UG – Grade 1) from Western Australia (1997) and is Member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM). Belinda gives back to industry as a member of the University of Queensland’s Women in Engineering Advisory Board and through Sandvik’s International Women in Mining Partnership.

Biography

Adrian has a diverse background in mining projects that spans their evaluation, design, implementation, and operation. In 2014 he established own consultancy, which focuses on mineral project development in Australia and internationally. Prior to this he held senior technical support and operational roles with Ivanhoe Australia, Newcrest, BHP and Normandy Mining associated new projects. Adrian holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) from the University of NSW and a Masters of Minerals & Energy Economics from Macquarie University, and Certificates of Competency as a Mine Manager. He is a Fellow of the Australasian Institute for Mining and Metallurgy with Certified Professional (CP) accreditation, Member of the Institute of Engineers Australia with registration as a Certified Practicing Engineer and is a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ).

Biography

Danie has 25+ years practical mining experience in mechanised underground caving methods, other massive mining methods as well as a solid understanding and participation in Narrow Reef, Narrow Vein, Open pit and Marine mining methods. They have extensive Short, Medium and Long range planning knowledge and experience as well as solid experience in Systems engineering as well as project management for various technical and operational mining software and hardware applications. Danie has extensive Project Management Skills relating to technology and mine implementation with hands on experience relating to technical mining software deployment, mining automation and mining technology deployment as well as change management relating to the roll-out of these at a mining operation.

Biography

Chris is a mining engineer with over 30 years’ experience in mining operations and management with both site-based and FIFO roles. He holds an MBA from APESMA/Deakin University, an MSc in Mineral economics from Curtin University, and is a Graduate of the AICD. He has been an active member and passionate supporter of the AusIMM having joined in 1984, and brings competence in strategy, governance, ethics, operations and regional perspectives to the AusIMM Board. Chris previously served as AusIMM Director from 2007-12, and as chair of the Board of Professional Engineers Qld 2013-2014. He has contributed to AusIMM’s financial stability via his involvement on the Investment Committee as Chair since 2007, and professional standards through membership of the Chartered Professional (CP) Board from 2009-17 (including Chair 2012-15, Project Manager for the CP program in 2017 and on the Advisory Taskforce). He has also served on various other conference committees, the 2015 EEF Field Trip, the Mining Society and NW Qld Branch Committee. Chris is passionate about professional development and standards, the future of the industry, and is an active supporter of students and new professionals. Chris is excited about the future of mining and AusIMM’s changing role as the world moves further into the technology age and enjoys the opportunity to give more back through membership of the AusIMM Board.

Biography

Alex is a mining engineer with 16 years of experience in operational roles and as a consultant. His experience spans underground and open pit mining, with roles including geotechnical engineering, mine production and long term planning. He was a site engineer at the Cannington, Ernest Henry and Mount Isa mines over a 12 year period in various roles from graduate the engineering superintendent. Alex has worked on over 50 different mines across six continents since becoming a consultant four years ago. Alex’s specialises in mining strategy and geotechnical engineering for underground mines, particularly caving operations, and deep and highly seismic mines.
