Marco Orunesu Preiata is a mining engineer with more than 20 years of industry experience in various commodities and companies, in both technical, operational and managerial positions.
Marco obtained his Laurea with Honours in mining engineering (equivalent of MSc) in 1995, and the PhD in geoengineering (speciality Rock Mechanics) in 1998 from Cagliari University (Italy). Worked in Italy with various commodities, industrial minerals, bauxite, gold and coal. Moved to Australia in 2008 with Western Areas as Geotechnical Engineer at Forrestania Nickel Operation and is now General Manager Technical Services since 2020.

Meggie is a Geotechnical Engineer with over 5 years experience in underground mining and some of Australia's most significant civil tunnel excavations. She has worked on the North Connex Project (AUD$3 Billion) and the Melbourne Metro Tunnel Project (AUD$11 Billion) as well as Ballarat Gold Mine (Victoria) and most recently Olympic Dam (South Australia) and has expertise in providing geotechnical advice for challenging ground conditions.

Andrew is geotechnical engineer with a passion for getting the best out of the Cannington ore body with safe & efficient geotechnical practices.
Whilst studying Civil engineering on the Gold Coast, he developed an interest in geotechnical engineering during his part time undergraduate work before starting in underground mining at Cannington in 2011.
He enjoys the problem solving and risk based design approach in geotechnical engineering and seeing the completed design cycle unfold in the underground mining environment.

Katrina is a mining engineer with extensive site-based, international and FIFO experience across several commodities. Katrina holds a BEng (Mining)(Hons) from UNSW, is a CP Mining, and a Graduate of the AICD. Katrina is a current AusIMM Director and has served on Board Committees including the Policy & Advocacy, Audit & Risk, and this year joining the Council for Diversity & Inclusion.
Katrina has been an active AusIMM member for over 20 years contributing through several committees including the UG Ops Organising Committee, the Mining Society, and the Southern Queensland Branch, including Chair. She is a sponsor of the AusIMM mentoring program which creates opportunities for building career pathways and nurtures the next generation of resources professionals.
Katrina has been an asset to the board as she advocates for strengthening continuous professional development, through enabling access to learning resources to develop the skillsets required for industry professionals of the future.
